Thank you, Madam speaker, A study on the government of Canada website showed that Canada used 722 megatons of carbon dioxide in 2015 which is equivalent to 1.5 quadrillion pounds of Carbon created by a small number of 37 million people. The amount of carbon Egypt used in that year was only 440,000 pounds and they have 62 million more people in their country. We use carbon for our personal and industrial use and the result is the destruction of our environment. A carbon tax is a fee on the amount of fossil fuels emitted in tons. The Liberal Party believes that change starts from somewhere and there is no exception when it comes to improving the environment. Enforcing a federal carbon tax is necessary, reasons being: health benefits, raises revenue, and because its economically efficient. Now let me expand on how a carbon tax will come with health benefits. A 2015 study from the NGO, Berkeley Earth estimated that 1.6 million people in China die each year from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, ischaemic heart disease, lung cancer, and stroke because of the dangerously polluted …show more content…
Once this happens, solar energy, wind, Biomass , hydro, and geothermal energy will slowly start to be incorporated into everyday power and energy sources. Everything will become more high tech and advanced. There would be more stable prices and more reliability on the power source since it is renewable. We will never run out of these power sources. Carbon is a non-renewable energy source and there will be an end to it, which is why switching to a reusable energy source would save us the carbon we might need in the future. When this happens, Canada will be the first country to be running on renewable energy sources and will be an example to the rest of the
The New Democratic Party promises to improve the environmental situation that we are currently living in. Our current environmental situation is very important to maintain, or even make better, because if we continue on this path of pollution and accumulating green house gases, then the Earth's atmosphere will no longer be sustainable and we risk losing our precious planet. The NDP says that they will attempt to get rid of coal-based electricity. "Coal emits more carbon per unit of energy than oil, and 80 percent more than natural gas." (Green Energy) It is a good thing that the NDP are taking steps to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases that are omitted into the air to save the environment. The NDP promises to invest in the production of cars with low emission rates and develop mandatory vehicle emission standards that must be followed in Canada. This will reduce the amount of carbon dioxide omitted from cars, which is a big source of pollution in the world. If the vehicle emission standards are mandatory, people will be forced to follow the standards and will have no choice, therefore resulting in l...
It can kill you! Yeah, this thing is silent and deadly! Colorless and odorless, you never know where it can be leaking from. Can you smell? Nope! Can you taste it? Nahhh! Have you figure it out yet? The thing that might take your life right now, or maybe tonight or maybe tomorrow. No? Well, I’ll be nice and tell you. The poisonous demand that lurk through the air so free and careless is Carbon Monoxide or CO. In this paper, you will learn all what and how it can kill you plus how you can protect yourself from Mr.CO
I. You might have heard politicians in the news, talk about overhauling our tax system with a new fix-all idea, the flat-tax. This would simplify our overly complicated tax system and might seem appealing at first glance, however there are serious problems with it.
Throughout our lives, we carry and value our own beliefs. As we face different challenges, we may be persuaded into making certain choices. However, no matter how convincing a person may be, in the end we always have the last word. Nobody likes being told what to do but we do like to hear other opinions for a different perspective. The proper way of using rhetoric is through a confident tone that is knowledgeable of their topic. The speaker should have integrity and be selfless in the sense that they are understanding towards their audience.
Specific Purpose: To persuade the audience to strengthen their commitment to participate in National Women’s Law Center and American Association of University Women Organization.
Pollution is affecting many individuals and life, as we know it. We need to do something about how it’s affecting our world. That’s why I urge the issue that more people should realize that pollution is an issue that needs to be prevented because of its negative consequences. Which are health affects, the total destruction of environments, and the death of animals and plants. More awareness must be brought up amongst the people and they must realize the long-term benefits it has for the world.
...lain Canada is headed in the wrong direction, with projections for growing emissions and no stated plan to prevent the increase. While it could be argued that the increase in global temperatures will make places such as the Hudson Bay- Arctic Lowlands more habitable, Canada as a whole must think on what matters more: material gain or a healthy and survivable planet.
A groundbreaking study shows that Canada's economy can still grow by almost 20 per cent over the next decade while the country dramatically reduces its greenhouse gas pollution by about half. The study shows that Canada could take decisive action and still continue to enjoy strong net job growth and other economic benefits. By 2020 Canadians would save more than $5.5 billion each year at the gas pump because of more efficient vehicles, more public transit and shorter commutes.
Claim: Solar power has the potential to become the United States main supply of energy and replace are needs for more conventional and harmful forms of power generation.
Every citizen has some taxing obligations and that is given. Taxes are plain required by the state in order to help raise funds for purposes directed to the wellness of the general public. However, there might be some instances where you just can't pay your entire taxing obligation due to a number of occurrences resulting to severe financial constraints. Ergo, you end up having a huge sum of debt to pay to the government.
PURPOSE: To persuade my audience that we must take action now to control air pollution
Canada has a high consumption of energy per capita among other countries. The growth of population is one of the reasons that makes Canada has a high energy consumption. In order to meet the needs of energy, Canada has to rely on coal and tar sand. It will increase the emission of GHGs. Through the example of tar sand production and high consumption of energy and the fact that Canada is one of the top10 countries that emit large amount of GHGs and one of the highest consumption of energy per capita in the world, therefore Canada is responsible to be a larger role in the climate change
Climate change has been a major issue for over a decade. We’ve been encouraged to ‘do our part’ for the environment. Reducing energy using devices, changing our transportation habits and buying products locally are minor but significant ways individuals can adjust their lifestyles to help better the environmental situation. However, climate change is very much a long term problem that needs ideas enrooted in the short term. Statistics Canada reported that in 2009, the residential sector in the country consumed about 1,316.2 petajoules of energy, 739 petajoules (roughly 56%) of this was generated by a producer emitting greenhouse gases.
Our country is currently suffering energy-wise, we have been powering with inefficient sources for years now and the harm that it is doing to the country has started to become apparent. Renewable energy is the only way to stop, or at the very least set back the inevitable downfall of our ecosystem. I think that the next big breakthrough for renewable energy is implementing off-grid communities that use renewable sources as their main sources of power, so that we can potentially escape the energy rut that we got ourselves stuck in.
Smoking is not only bad for health it is also as bad for the people
