In one of William Shakespeare's popular plays, Romeo and Juliet, two star-crossed lovers find their way bringing their parents’ feud to end. The play, set in Verona, Italy regards the ongoing conflict among Montague and Capulet families. The tragic love of the two adolescence is determined by fate. Fate shapes the events of the Capulet’s ball, the events surrounding the killing of Tybalt and the final tragic resolution that produces the grievous love of Romeo and Juliet.
The events of the Capulet masque party are directly influenced by fate. Romeo is whining about Rosaline with is good friend Benvolio. One of the Capulets’ servants is attempting to decode the guest list. The servant randomly decides to ask Romeo to assist him with translating
I pray, sir, can you read?” (1.3.77). It was by fate the servant chooses Romeo out of all people in Verona to translate the guest list. Without the servant asking Romeo would have never known about the masque party. The masquerade party is where he meets is ultimate love, Juliet. Fate linking Romeo and Juliet together and that they were destined for each other. Romeo meeting Juliet is how the strive between both families will come to end. Without fate guiding the servant to Romeo that feud may have never ended. Before Romeo and friends, Benvolio and Mercutio enter the Capulet’s party Romeo mentions,“Some consequence, yet hanging in the stars / Shall bitterly begin his fearful date / By some
Here a series of coincides shape the death of the two star-crossed lovers. Romeo is lodging in Mantua after being banished for Verona. Friar Laurence plans to send a letter filling Romeo in on his plan to bring Romeo and Juliet back together. Ordained by fate, Romeo does not receive the letter. Friar Laurence grieves, “Unhappy fortune! The letter was not nice but full of charge / And the neglecting it / May do much danger / Get me an iron crow, and bring it straight / Unto my cell” (5.2.17-22). Friar Laurence realizes the tragic impact of the letter not getting to Romeo. Since the letter never made it to Romeo, he and Juliet fulfill their destiny of dying together. The feud ends because the tragic death occurs. The letter not reaching Romeo prompt Friar Laurence to go open Juliet’s grave. Since fate intervenes the Prince and the both families find the full truth about the events leading to the death of Romeo and Juliet. The enmity between the Montagues and the Capulets ends as a result of Friar Lawrence explaining all the events leading to the death of the two star-crossed lovers. Friar Lawrence explains himself because he is caught in cemetery of the Capulets. This is as a result of him trying to open Juliet’s grave.
