A man who wears nothing but a cape and underpants as hero is ridiculous. Some people might think it is inappropriate hero but some people love it. The Adventure of Captain Underpants by Dav Pilkey, is about two boys who makes comics about Captain Underpants and are pranksters in the school. The school is run by a principal that does not like children or fun. This cause the two boys to prank the principal to make the school fun for the children. Eventually, this cause the principal to try separate the two children and the children try to figure out the way to stop him. They use a hipotize ring that they got to from comic book and hypnotize the principal into Captain Underpants. They go through many adventures that are ridiculous …show more content…
and very inappropriate which many people unsuitable for children to read. I feel that The Adventures of Captain Underpants should of never been a banned book. The book is very funny, easy to read and very interactive. This book brings joy to children that read it and excited for the next book coming out. http://www.readkiddoread.com/blog/how-i-came-to-love-captain-underpants Frist, The adventure of captain underpants is funny book because of its imagination of superheroes and villains that does not exist.
The names such as Professor Pippy Pee-pee poopypants and the turbo toilet 2000 gives a chuckle to the reader. Some the text such as in A adventure of captain underpants have the word farts, poops and stinky feet. It brings the imagination of children alive with adventures such as trying to keep the principal who became Captain Underpants from getting harm. The principal thinks he is Captain Underpants running through traffic in his underwear and the villains they run into. The principal might be mean and heartless but when he become Captain Underpants the boys cared for him. harmed. Secondly, The Adventures of Captain Underpants shouldn’t be banned because it is easy to read.
The book has simple words for children to read that even a beginner could get into the book. This book introduces children into the culture of comic book that are words in the panel of text even the illustration of the book you can read the text. The book teaches about the protagonist and the antagonist, who it both the principal and captain underpants. The text is well written with no spelling mistakes and correct grammar . The book is so funny that keep the children interested and happy. According Dav Pilkey on huffingpost , he says “ My goal with Captain Underpants is to make kids laugh and to give children (and especially reluctant readers) a positive experience with reading at a crucial time in their development (ages 7 to 10). Children in this age group who hate to read are in great danger of becoming functionally illiterate adults.”. Dav says that children shouldn’t hate to read a book and have enjoyment in reading. It might have words such as poop, fart and stinky should not be banned. He says that children who hate reading are illiterate because teacher tell them to read book that they don’t want to read. He wanted it to be easy to read and enjoyment for all the children who read
it. Lastly, the adventure of Captain underpants shouldn’t be banned because it is an interactive book. The book is filled with illustration making the children look into the book and look at every detail that the book is showing. When the boys change the letter of the sign, you have to see what they put and laugh at the ridiculous text such as “ Please go pee-pee on your socks for warmth” or “Come and see our hairy armpits”. Another way the book is interactive it the narration of the book and how the narrator talk to you about the adventures of the boys. The boys even talk the reader when they show the comic book that they made which bring you into another story. The book is a story into another story which has fun way of reading and getting the child into the book. The book also uses the illustration to show the action scenes using the flip-o-rama that makes you flip the book to show Captain Underpants hitting the bad guy or even silly actions. Dav made the book for children that build the vocabulary of children through one his fill in the blank books that teaches children to make comic books. Some of the books also teaches children to make their own book and even learn how to draw. This keep the children interactive and become their own author. In summary, Captain Underpants is unique book that some people don’t understand the humor. Dav wanted children to enjoy reading, so he created a book that is interactive, funny and easy to read for those who do not want to read. He knew that if children did not read they will become illiterate adults and banning the book didn’t help these children. Captain Underpants was banned because it has sense of humor that some parents didn’t like. The book talk has some fart jokes, characters that are trouble maker, and not respecting the authority. Yet, the book does have consequences to the troublemakers and children will always make fart jokes. This book is for kids to know it is fun to read and be themself. This book is very special to me as a kid because of the interactive way of read, such as flip-or-rama. I remember everyone at school talking about Captain Underpants and actually checking out of the library. I knew as a kid I wouldn’t do the pranks that the children did in the book and I know many other children did as well. Captain Underpants series should not have been banned in some school because if you actually read the book and understand the meaning of Dav’s purpose, you would understand all he wanted is for reading to be fun.
Kurt Vonnegut said in The Vonnegut Statement (1973), in an interview with Robert Scholes, that one of his reasons for writing is "to poison minds with humanity…to encourage them to make a better world" (107). This idea works quite well in Vonnegut's book, Cat's Cradle. It is a satirical story of a man's quest to write a book about the day the world ended (refering to the day the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima), which he never finishes. What we get is a raw look at humans trying desperately to find a sense of purpose in their lives through different means such as religion, science, etc.
He tells his story through the main character, Billy Pilgrim. Although, the novel may be too realistic and mature, students should be allowed to read the book to be able to see life through someone else’s shoes. To be allowed to see what the real world is in other people’s In the first few pages of the novel, curse words have appeared more than three times. One of the characters is carrying a pornographic picture of a woman and a horse which would make any parent want to get rid of the book immediately.
In the essay titled “How Teachers Make Children Hate Reading” written by John Holt and published in Reading for writers in 2013, Mr. Holt discusses why most children aren’t interested in reading. Mr. Holt spent fourteen years as an elementary school teacher. He believed classroom activities destroy a student’s learning ability. Mr. Holt never let his students say what they thought about a book. He wanted his students to look up every word they didn’t know. People can learn difficult words without looking them up in the dictionary.
From this quote alone it is apparent that Moore structured Bowling For Columbine in a way that would rally the people of America behind tighter gun control. It’s because of this that it becomes even more apparent that Bowling For Columbine was structured in away to provoke emotion and from that promotes the idea that many of its scenes were structured. This is the clearest indication of Moore’s influence as a filmmaker with in the documentary. However although probably the biggest ethical issues, he certainly raises debate with his lack of empathy when interviewing people.
American Idiot, arguably Green Day’s most famous album, is one of the best example of and the most well-known musical protest of George W Bush. The album marked a milestone for Green Day, the benchmark where they became a political band. In the earlier albums, Armstrong wrote about anxiety, relationships, panic attacks, etc., looking inwards as a muse. However, in American Idiot, Armstrong does a complete 180, writing about politics and the “alienation and anger he felt during the presidency of George W Bush” (Orange). The album was meant to be provocative, to incite a response out of the public. Armstrong states that by being so political, it felt like we “tapped into the culture a bit” (purple). Before American Idiot, Green Day’s “social
Although this book uses offensive words, it is such an important part of this time period. Some adults may not want their kids reading these stories in school because they can repeat the words and use them offensively. People could also feel that this book isn’t appropriate because it was written so long ago and uses old-fashioned phrases that don't teach students proper English. People will always have their own opinions.
Many people think this book should be banned because of profanity and adult content. I can somewhat see where these adults are coming from because they don’t want their kids seeing this. There isn’t very much vulgar
...ailable in public libraries, parents or guardians should monitor what their children are reading anyhow. If I were a teacher I would not teach or read about this book in my classroom. There is no knowledgeable information in the books; they are for entertainment purpose only. I would also not suggest that any of my students read the books. If they find them on their own that would be perfectly fine.
“It’s not just the books under fire now that worry me. It is the books that will never be written, the books that will never be read. And all due to the fear of censorship. As always, young readers will be the real losers” (Blume 1999). Judy Blume can not explain the problem of book censorship any clearer. The children are the real losers because they are the ones that are not able to read the classic works of literature which are the backbone of classroom discussions all across the United States.
Of Mice and Men is a book that should not be prohibited. This book has been used in classes for assignments and projects. The book does have foul language, but the kids have been exposed to these words, whether they have heard it at home or at school. According to Chicago Tribune, “Adolescents and preteens are swearing more publicly than ever, especially at school…” This is showing that kids are already cursing. When they are reading the book, the words are nothing new to them. They have already been exposed to these kind of words.
Many may argue, “Children are mature enough to choose their own books!” However a medical discovery has shown that children and teenagers are not mature enough through physical evidence. “Understanding the Teen Brain,” an article on the Online Medical Encyclopedia, states that “The rational part of a teen’s brain isn’t fully developed and won’t be until he or she is 25 years old or so.” This shows that children cannot decide for themselves what is good for them to read. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the adults to decide which books should or should not be banned.
The concept of the absurd hero clearly displays the development of the main character, Dr. Bernard Rieux. Through his slim chances of changing the present, his maintaining of existentialist integrity, and his absurd personality, comes the perfect absurd hero. Dr. Rieux is a true fighter for what he believes in is best for everyone else, his fellow citizens. He is not selfish nor rude. He is not conniving nor sceptical. He knows exactly what the future brings, more death from the plague, but that does not stop him from doing his purpose in life, to help the sick. He is an unlikely hero, but he sure does prove himself worthy of the “hero” title.
Everybody in this world is there own person it is up to that person to act like someone else or to copy that person.Dave Berry hyperbole “Live Right and find Happiness” is a low comedy that uses witty wordplay and sarcasm to show the universal truth about being yourself also to just be a nice person.
Richard Robinson, the President and CEO of Scholastic Inc., the world’s largest publisher and distributor of children’s books, said that a great children’s text contains a simple and original idea, is written with humour and makes the world more interesting. Despite being published in 1928, A.A. Milne’s The House At Pooh Corner remains a highly effective children’s text. The text meets the criteria set out by Richard Robinson and it has been able to do so through its good uses of literary elements such as style, themes and characters. Some examples of this can be linked to the works of various developmental theorists such as Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky and Erik Erikson.
Almost everyone who owns and drives a vehicle, sings along with their radio every once in a while, it’s what most people call ‘joyride’. Then again, celebrities are normal people too, that is why they also love singing in the car. It was indeed proven and tested in a segment called “Carpool Karaoke” in CBS’ Late Late Show with James Corden. Ever since it started, it gained millions and millions of views and is always on the top trends. It is where the host, James Corden, would invite a famous celebrity in the car and sing their own songs.
