Canoeing experience Expectations The canoeing was a fun event that met my expectations. It was a great experience since I never been canoeing before. Although canoeing is not extreme, there still exists a high physical component to this activity. In addition, I did not realize the numerous benefits that can be gained from canoeing. One benefit that can be gained is health by improving cardiovascular fitness. Paddling the canoe provides a great form of exercise that will increase muscle strength and reduces the risk of wear and tear on joints since it is a low impact activity. Moreover, canoeing is a full body experience, where the upper body and lower body are moving simultaneously. The challenge to maneuver the canoe was difficult at first since me and my partner were not in sync initially. The ability to communicate effectively and adjust enabled us to complete our journey without any complications. The first thing that occurred during our class meeting was the guides explaining the safety and precaution. The guides emphasized how to load the canoe properly in the water by holding the gunwale to avoid capsizing into the river. Next, they explained the proper technique for paddling and the proper use of the life vest. Following these safety measures and executing the proper technique will enable the canoe to stay on course. Upon returning to the dock, one of my classmates asked me to take their picture paddling the canoe. Unfortunately, my classmate stood up, which caused the canoe to capsize with both participants on board. At the dawn of the Twentieth century, cities, like Dayton, had factories being erected almost every day. The Industrialism period brought many people to cities looking for jobs. As cities became crowded and people overworked, a movement began to spend more time outside enjoying nature and all it has to offer. This created an opportunity that Charles W. Shaeffer saw, and jumped on (Dalton 11). He gave way for the idea of a club for those to spend time together, outdoors, to be involved with one another and to bring the community together as one. In the age of industrialism, in this city of 1000 factories, Dayton Canoe Club helped spark a new found love of outdoors for those in the city, and continues to do so today, 100 years later.

They take you on an underground mine tour and you learn a “ton”, see what I did there? So we exited the park a few hours later and within an hour or two we arrived at the Charles L Sommers Northern Tier base. There we learned more about the trip and what was laid ahead of us. We also learned why a mass genocide of all mosquitoes must be executed. THEY WERE EVERYWHERE! The next morning we set off and I saw just how difficult this trip would be. We had to flip a canoe onto our shoulders, and being as scrawny as I was sure didn’t help. We also had to learn about all the gear we were bringing along with us. We set off after a few hours of training with all our gear in our canoes and got on the water to begin the hard part of the adventure. I sat Duff that first half of the day. And for those of you who are unfamiliar with the term it means to sit in the middle of the canoe dying of boredom as two other people in the stern (back) and bow (front) paddled. Okay maybe I’m not cutting it enough slack. As Duff you are also supposed to help navigate as you are the only person on the boat who has their hands free. Aquatic Therapy refers to treatments and exercises performed in water for physical rehabilitation purposes. Aquatic therapy uses water as a therapeutic benefit for individuals. The water acts as a form of resistance and aids in improving ones function, flexibility, range of motion, strength, balance, aerobic capacity and endurance, gait and locomotion, and pain management. Due to the buoyancy of the water and its non-gravitational forces, aquatic therapy offers a form of exercise which does not put stress on an individual’s joints or spine. Rather, it serves as a relaxation technique (Webmd, 2014).
The purpose of therapeutic recreation is to enable all individuals to achieve quality of life and optimal health through meaningful experiences in recreation and leisure. In this paper the definition of therapeutic recreation will be discussed as well as what should be included in the definition and what should be rejected. This definition will mainly focus on health and use the Health Promotion Model to further explain my choice to focus on health and well-being. I will also be discussing the importance of inclusion in therapeutic recreation for different learning styles in many environments, and the significance of diversity in the community and what we hope to achieve by being fully inclusive.

In contrast the painting Happy Accidents of the swing is by Jean-Honore Fragonard, and this painting portrays a young woman seated on a swing that is located in an overgrown garden while being pushed by a man that seems to be hiding in the shadows. We can also see a young man in the lower left reclining in the bushes, one arm outstretched towards the young woman skirts, his other arm holding his balance as he admires her. Relationship between the Individual and Nature in "The Open Boat" From the beginning, the four characters in the aftermath of a shipwreck do not know "the colour of the sky" but all of them know "the colours of the sea." This opening strongly suggests the symbolic situations in which human beings are located in the universe. The sky personifies the mysterious, inconceivable cause of reality, which humans cannot understand, and the sea symbolizes the earthy, mundane phenomenon, which humans are supposed to perceive. The symbolic picture generated by the above conflict implies the overall relationship between the individual and nature.
Exercise can benefit an individual in many ways. Through research I have found several articles which have been written throughout the years that address these benefits. Some of these benefits are to prevent diseases, to improve stamina, to strengthen and tone, to enhance flexibility, to control weight, and to improve quality of life. All of these benefits will be address throughout this paper. However, even though exercise does benefits an individual, it does also depends on their circumstances. For example, exercise can be done to help with a pregnancy and after a pregnancy, to control diabetes, and to help the brain function for achievement in school.
Are you ever satisfied when you do something and do not receive the results you want? I know you are not and nobody is. Everyone wants improvement in the world and people are happy and satisfied when everything is right. This concept can be applied to the world of physical education in today’s society. Obesity has slowly become one of the most problematic diseases that exist in the United States and the world today. The U.S. has been greatly impacted by this disease and more and more people in today’s society are overweight, unhealthy, and out of shape. Everyone knows that this issue needs to be fixed but in order to fix a problem you need to discover where the problem comes from. Many people blame food companies, which sell unhealthy food to people; others blame the media for promoting things such as junk food or video games. Other people blame the physical education systems in schools. Many people believe that physical education is not doing enough to help children and younger generations develop healthier habits. There is no doubt that society needs to change from being unhealthy and overweight to physically active and healthy, but many changes need to be done in society to do so, and making adjustments to physical education must be done.

Sailing has been around for millennia, and is considered to be one of the earliest and most environmentally friendly methods of water transport. Sailboats act as a method of transportation, exercise, and entertainment. These now more structurally developed and masterfully modeled ships have been engineered for efficiency, and these advancements have ensured durability and speed among modern sailboats. The great strength and ability of sailboats has given competitive owners the opportunity to participate in races, but generally sailboats have come to exist as more of a relaxed hobby. The expensive activity of sailing is demanding both physically and mentally, as it tests anticipative abilities and endurance.
