The dental clinics being a private sector are easily accessible in contrast to the waiting times to receive health services in public sector. The annual dental visit of Canadians has increased from 60% to 75%. Three out of four people visit a dental clinic annually. Canadians aged 12 or over also visit the dental clinic annually. However, people more than 71 years lack dental insurance in retirement years so they have less access to the clinics. The Canadians from lower-income families have the worst outcomes of oral health due to inability to visit a dentist resulting in untreated and poor oral hygiene. The Dental Association in British Columbia has suggested fee guide and the dentists can structure their prices accordingly. Advertising is restricted by Alberta Dental Association. The dentist in Alberta can lose his licence for advertising about his services superior than another dentist (Hopper, 2016). The expensive dental treatment has led to fentanyl crisis. Ideally, if the dental care was funded publicly, less number of people would be addicted to opioids. According to Dr Hasan Sheikh, an emergency room physician in Toronto, most people end up in coming to emergency rooms with toothaches as they cannot afford dentist and have no idea where else to go.
