Can books still be exciting without conflict, or is it necessary? Think back to a book that was amazing and astonishing to read, would it still have been amazing without the conflict. An example would be “ Rules of the Game ” by Amy Tan. The story of a rising young chess prodigy who finds herself in conflict with her mother, after being flaunted around like some prized pig, but is this really necessary, or can it be avoidable?
