Camera shot is one of the most basic part in making films or taking pictures. The camera man can take a picture in various ways. Typically, four kinds of shots exist: the long shot, the extreme long shot, the medium shot, and the close-up. All of them are used numerous times in a movie. The long shot is usually used to show the normal frame or characters with part of a background. For example, the long shot was used when a soldier fell from the castle during the battle scene in the Robin Hood. It had an emotional impact that made audiences realize how tall the castle was and feel how hurt it would be as the soldier fell down to the ground. They were also able to focus on what the king’s last will is. Also, it was used when Robin Hood shot an arrow to the head of an enemy, and it almost shot his face. It slightly missed him. This close-up shot helped to focus how close the arrow was and the tension of the battle. Like these examples of each shots, the impacts of different shots make the quality of the movie higher. In a movie, camera angles are also important part. Due to the angles, the view of the scene and focus can be changed. In Robin Hood, high camera angle is used in the beginning of the movie. The angle of the camera dropped form the top to the bottom as it showed the whole view of the background. It was not that effective to make an emotional response because the audiences could see the whole view, but nothing really worked emotionally. Normal angles are used numerous times in the movie. For example, normal angle was used when the characters looked and talked to each other. It was used for the most part of the movie since it helped to focus on a typical scene; therefore, it was not effective in making an emotional response.
