Lonnie Young III Cambia Health Solutions Case Study Software Sustainment Dr. Rita Barrios January 25, 2018 Abstract In the case study, The Cambia Health Solutions company came up with a solution to construct their portfolio with the use of surveys, interviews, and other resources. The company was divided into two separate companies called the Regence Insurance Holding Company and Direct Health Solutions. Both the vice president and director set up a meeting to discuss how the organization should adapt to cultural change. The next things Cambia did were using stories and interviews to make the survey stand out. They guaranteed that the content was relevant because they wanted the content to retain the meaning. In recent years, Cambia realized that the organization was not up-to-date with their resources because they relied on outdated processes to survive in the modern world. The entire organization did not manage their time and resources to compete with other …show more content…
The organization was split up into two healthcare businesses such as the Regence Insurance Holding Company and Direct Health Solutions. Cummings (2015) mentioned that " As corporate sponsors of USC's Center for Effective Organizations, the vice president of human resources and the director of organization development called the center to talk about the latest thinking in organization culture and how they might go about managing cultural change." This quote means that the director and the vice president discussed how to handle cultural change in the business so they could get ahead. A team of designers has constructed a portfolio to include surveys, spreadsheets, and other resources to make the content more relevant. They also used some data such as interviews to not only make the surveys more detailed, but maintain the original
...and his vision in successfully transforming the medical center to a tertiary care facility. However, in 2008 under Ron Henderson, the medical center expenses began to skyrocket and revenues failed to keep up. Also, a hospital census indicated that, on average, Medicare patients consisted of 58% and Medicaid patients consisted of 18% which caused the medical center to suffer from reductions in reimbursements. Although noted by solid evidence that utilization was experiencing a steep decline, Mr. Henderson added 127 new positions to the medical center. In 2009, Mr. Henderson was fired after the board of trustees realized that this financial bind of an $8.6 million deficit was caused by Mr. Henderson. In order for the new CEO, Richard Reynolds, to succeed at his new job title, he must create a benchmarking process adopting certain goals to remain a worthy competitor.
To determine if the hospital can perform this many operations, one should compute the equipment (operating room) and labor (surgeon) requirements per day and compare it to the current equipment and labor capacity per day.

In the end, the system’s success rests on the people and not the tools. It is 90 percent culture change and 10 percent technology. Driving these changes solely based on technology and technology budgets will not be successful. The employees are who bring about the change. Therefore, by implementing focus groups that include different levels of employees will bring about the change in a successful manner. Additionally, by revamping the mission statement to reflect the culture of the company will give the employees and management a sense of direction.
Chronic illness can consist of a single or multiple illnesses that last over a period of time (Kaakinen, Coehlo, Steele, Tabacco, & Hansen, 2015). For this assignment, I will choose a chronic illness that could affect a patient in my nursing practice. As far as I can remember, I always wanted to become a nurse because of my personal and family life circumstances. I was born in a very small country, Bhutan. When I was a child, my family was forced to leave the country because of an ethnic cleansing policy of repressive Bhutanese government. I grew up in a refugee camp for 18 years where food, healthcare, sanitation, privacy, school, and others were very limited. Most of the people in the camp including children were victims of rape, torture, imprisonment, and mental illness (especially, PTSD). All the victims and other mentally ill people were deprived of medical facilities in the refugee camps. I myself was also deprived to get medical services

Healthcare organizations are designed to meet the healthcare needs of individuals and promote a healthy community. The three healthcare organizations that interest me are: The Heart Hospital Baylor of Plano, Texas Health Center for Diagnostics & Surgery Plan, and Parkland Health and Hospital System. Due to the evolving healthcare industry, focusing on just patients and physicians is no longer a marketing strategy. According to Mycek (2015), “Marketing teams need to expand their consideration set and focus on the new 5 P’s of Healthcare Marketing” (p. 1).
As stated before this initiative must be continued in order to benefit current employees and future employees. This translates into current and future success of the organization if the initiative is administered correctly. The development of a cultural competence foundation for managers and their millennial employees must be built on. The desired end result is attaining cultural competence throughout the entire organization.

...chniques and procedures among those associated with quantitative or qualitative research. A literature review, which included document analysis, was used to answer sub-questions one, two and three. A model building approach was suggested to answer sub-question four. In addition, the study uses a case study as a proof-of-concept. The use of a case study is a qualitative empirical study to strengthen the research validity. Since the research methods directly responding to the research questions (Literature review and Model building) make use of textual data, we classified this study as a qualitative study. Table 3.1 below summarises the classification of this study in terms of the dimensions discussed above.
