Caesar Augustus is an important figure in the ancient Rome history. One of the good sources on the history of Rome during his reign is the Augustus and the Creation of the Roman Empire that contains all the information on Caesar Augustus (Octavius) biography, his path of becoming an emperor, and his achievements during the reign. Octavius, as a historians argue, consider to be a reformer or a revolutionary. The book contains the historical documents and accounts from Caesar Augustus live that are helpful in creating a full picture of who he was as a person and as a leader. Also, the references of other people who lived during that time and contacted with Augustus directly— such as Marc Antony— give more balanced picture on Augustus. Therefore this book’s content fully describes what role Augustus played as an emperor and how significant were the changes and reforms he made. As has been mentioned before Octavius is argued that he falls somewhere in between “reformer” and “revolutionary”; him being a revolutionary is more likely to be true. Augustus also added the former leaders of Rome to be honored as the Gods “Next to the immortal Gods he honored the memorial of the leaders who had risen the Rome people from obscurity to greatness.” In other words, Augustus wanted people to memorize and praise their leaders how brought Rome to place it is now; for the romans to appreciate the accomplishments of their leaders.
