The cute and innocent face of a puppy is very difficult to overlook; especially when you are being stared down with those big, round puppy dog eyes. When a family decides on inviting a dog into their family, the thought of welcoming a puppy into their new home comes to their mind; but why not rescue an older dog? A dog does not grow out of it's puppy stage until six months old; it does not end there. The even harder, and exhausting stage of adolescence, comes directly after that. A dog is fully mature at the age of three. A person that adopts a puppy, will soon figure out the amount of work and time it takes to raise one properly. Before deciding on bringing a puppy into your household, looking past all of the cuteness will definitely help in the long run. Making sure you have the time and effort is what you should be thinking about with the decision of a puppy. Most people adopt puppies because they think they are cute; sadly, most of those dogs soon end up in shelters once they hit adolescence. Sadly, this happens because families no longer have the patience to continue to train their pup; they find it easier to just give up.
Like all adoption processes, you are going to have to pay some amount of money to be able to take home your new family member. However, rescuing from a dog from a shelter is a lot cheaper and more affordable than purchasing a puppy from a pet store or breeder. Most people believe that the only way to have a pure bred dog is to adopt from a breeder. People spend thousands of dollars buying a pure bred puppy from a pet store or breeder. There are organizations around the United States where adoptions for pure bred dogs are held; these dogs are waiting to find their new, forever homes. Not only do purchasing ...

...a few things with her that included getting along with my grandmothers cats, and she now has perfect manners; my grandmother, who is a cat person, loves Bella as if she were one of her own grandchildren. Bella goes everywhere with me, except school and work. Soon enough, I am going to get Bella certified in being a service dog; that way I can bring her to nursing homes and hospitals to do volunteer work. Bella steals the heart of every person that meet her. Anybody who says an adult shelter dog is not a suitable family, is obviously wrong. Adult shelter dogs are easier to have in a household and they have so much love to give to their new families.

The little girl and Mom saved the puppy from the Puppy Shop, right? Yes, they did save that ONE puppy, but they only added to the fuel of the Puppy mill industry. They could have adopted the same breed of puppy at a local animal shelter or rescue. In fact, the Humane Society estimated that each year, 2.7 million adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized in the United States, simply because too many pets come into shelters and too few people consider adoption when looking for a pet (2018). Making it very important to know that the number of euthanized animals could be reduced dramatically if more people adopted pets instead of buying
Year after year people buy puppies from big breeders. Have you ever wondered where that puppy grew up? What kind of conditions the puppy lived in? Most puppies that someone would buy from a pet store are raised in puppy mills. Puppy mills are well-known for their “inhumane conditions” and the endless breeding of “unhealthy and genetically defective” dogs only for income. People should adopt rather than buy from a pet store or breeder. By adopting from a shelter, one could give a dog a second chance at a happy life.
So you want to adopt a puppy? Well there are two main places that your puppy could have been born. First, your puppy could have been born at a puppy mill. This is an inhumane, mass breeding location that can be very detrimental to your new pet. Another location that your puppy could have been born at is a breeder. This is a more humane location for your puppy to have been born. When adopting a puppy you should avoid going to a pet store because most pet stores receive their puppies from puppy mills; inhumane and overpopulated puppy breeding places.
Service dogs are a low risk treatment, that can replace dangerous medication and expensive devices. For a purebred service dog is $20,000, however there are non profit organizations that provide service dogs at a much lower cost, but there is usually a long wait list (“Costs”). ASDA (Autism Service Dogs of America) sets a donation goal of $13,500 for every approved family, which is always achieved. Another option is buying the dog from a breeder and paying for the training and accessories. If a puppy is purchased from a dog breeder for around $2,500, in two years time the dog would have costed around $5,200 dollars. The rest of the $ 2,700 comes from vet bills, service gear, training expenses, food, treats, and toys. (“Service”) Getting a dog from a rescue center will cost about the same amount because usually vet bills and training expenses are incrases. However in the long run the owner is most likely to spend more money on a rescue dog, because they often have more issues, physically and mentally which cause them to wear out faster. There is no health insurance that cover service animals. Service dogs however do replace the nasty side effects of some medication, and devices that won't provide companionship. Although the average hearing aid costs $4,000, hearing aides need replaced as the person grows, and need repairs as well, putting the total

If I said that there is someone on this earth who loves you more than they love themselves, wouldn’t you want to meet them? A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself (Dog Quotes, n.d.). While most owners are aware of the amount of joy and laughter dogs bring to them and their family, they are unaware that their dogs love them unconditionally and can help them have better lives. They’re not just furry friends that gives people companionship; there are a number of proven health benefits for people.
Adoption consist of the legal termination of the birth parents rights, willingly or unwillingly, and recognizes the adoptive parents as the sole persons legally responsible for the adopted child. This legal process transfers all rights and responsibilities of the child to the adoptive parents. As stated by the Dave Thomas Foundation (2014, August.), adoption is
Relevance: I’m sure that many of you have been tempted to buy a puppy while scrolling through the numerous websites online filled with cute pictures of healthy looking puppies.
Adoption is such a great thing, and provides many children, with a family they have always wanted. There are local adoptions, domestic adoptions within families, and international adoptions. Even though adoption is a wonderful thing, there can be a negative side as well. There is always a risk of the children not bonding with the adoptive parents. These children, unfortunately, are at a higher risk for mental health disorders, and also, they are at risk for abandonment issues. There are community programs that aim to help adoptive parents, and the children.
Morbidly enough, adopting a child in some cases can cost money. Even with adopting from the state there might be some type of fee. But going through a private agency or plan on adopting from another country that’s when the cost starts to skyrocket. You could always use an adoption attorney, but the price may not be much different than an agency. Everybody knows you must spend money on a house. You BUY or RENT a house, just isn’t handed to you. Before this, I never thought adoption would cost anything. Call me naive, but adoption is rarely shown on in the media that often. Other than the obvious movie “Annie” the only other show that I have seen
“A dog is a man’s best friend” goes much deeper than the phrase might initially imply. Recently many medical journals have begun to identify with the many and varied benefits of pet ownership. Men have always relied upon animals for work, transportation, and survival. As times have changed, man has begun to appreciate a different bond with animals. Gone are the days of animals running free outside around the homestead, for now animals are allowed inside and are considered by many to be an integral part of our daily lives! Medical studies have found that animals have a much greater intelligence level than originally thought. Through proper training and experience, animals are not only household pets, but also are becoming an accepted form of medical treatment.
A few years ago my husband Ryan and I decided to get a dog. For several weeks we made trips to the Regina Humane Society, waiting to find the perfect dog for us. We never even entertained the idea of buying a pure bred. I didn't want to buy a pet from someone who breeds dogs for profit when there are so many homeless dogs in need of a second chance.
