Buena High School located in Sierra, Vista, AZ has an uncertain future, until the vice presidents of the school finally shed some light on the top mysterious project. Mr. Duce states “.... Air conditioning obviously needs to be better regulated, we’re getting a second gym. A lot of high schools in the state have two gyms, and probably across the country. They’re making an addition to the performance theatre area. We’re getting LED lighting throughout, which is going to be more cost-effective and hopefully last longer than what we have now. I think the improvements for the school are going to be significant, even though you may not be able to see them.” However, some students have seen the damage in the school and thinks the school board
School District is in fact at fault for Chris's problems. We will show that the
The court stated that it was the school board decision to give such a risky individual, as a trusted professional employee with authority over students. Therefore, the school board must be held accountable when those risks emerge and cause loss or damages to innocent student.
With the recently discovered spark of "Chicano force," Paula and the other student leaders start their battle to enhance the quality of their education. The crew decide to take extraordinary measures after their requests are disregarded by the school board. After Sal Castro cautions school authorities about the reality of the student’s' requests, he is disregarded and resolves to help the students in their fight for a better education. He encourages the students to organize a peaceful walkout strike with the five other high schools to ensure that no students are physically harmed. Soon after the walkouts begin, their cause becomes highly publicized and last for a few days. During one of the walkouts, students are faced with violence by ...
Local school boards must know and completely understand the basis of legal responsibilities and restrictions. These responsibilities and restriction include overseeing the operation of local public schools. The school board is held accountable for creation of policies, rules and regulations that provides guidance for the administration and operation of schools. The school board is perceived as a corporate body, which means an individual member of the board do not have more power than the overall power that is given to the board by the legislature. Therefore, individual school board members do not have the freedom to formulate policy, or act self-sufficiently of the school board as a whole. School board members are known to be public school officers, and are given powers by the legislature that help them fulfill their responsibilities.
our school district never faces a problem as big as the ones presented in this
School boards now and days are corrupt and only care for personal financial gain. The problem persists throughout the entire nation. We need to find the right people to control our schools if they are going to be productive, and help re-establish educational...
Schools are supposed to be second homes. It goes without saying that students should feel safe, comfortable, and happy at school. They're all there for the same reason. They're all stuck in the same boat of studying for the same diploma exams and going to the same assemblies.
The school is to protect the students from any wrong doing towards them. Such act, parents, school official and other authorities will be contacted. The case in Oakland County MI, opens many eyes for students and parents. The school board has responsibility to report such harm. This is not taken lightly, serious offense. Students could face years in prison, or face felonies.
“Education is not the preparation for life; education is life itself.” - John Dewey. Every year, as we enter a new grade, new challenges approach us. Eighth grade is no exception., and will be very different from 7th grade. As I enter my eighth grade school year, I will be bombarded with a variety of new experiences and challenges such as buddies, academics, and being prepared for high school. One of the most important tasks that is thrust onto me is buddies.
The laws of the schools are to protect the students, faculty, and staff. Administrators must know the law so that everyone is treated equally and fair. With the state statutes, the school boards have the right to adopt and enforce rules and regulations necessary to operate and manage schools. Parents have to right to place their children in any institutions they feel their children will excel, whether that is a private or public school.(Essex, 2002, p. 6)
She goes on to say how the ceiling is ruined, the bathroom stalls need doors and how there isn’t a playground around. She also talks about how the school’s basement is the cafeteria for the teachers. Now, this really caught my attention. When I was in high school, I remember that the teachers had a whole living room inside the school for them to eat their lunch or to rest during their conference period. This made me think that the teachers always had it “good”. By good I mean that it never crossed my mind that the instructors as well as students were suffering from inequalities. I always believed it was only the students that did. The students were the ones who suffered from not getting enough textbooks or not providing sufficient supplies. But in reality, this article helped me open my eyes to see that also the whole faculty, staff and schools are in this together. How is a student going to learn if the teachers do not have the proper and/or sufficient equipment? Why are other schools, such as the one I went, are getting more benefits than the others
such as a science fair, for example. If a student’s project explodes, or someone accidently is stabbed with a needle or sharp object, or has an allergic reaction to an edible experiment, that individual may attempt to hold the district liable. However, educators should know that “enlightened courts are aware of the fact that an unrealistic interpretation of tort law could” (Seitz, 1971, p. 551) lend to this reaction from teachers and do what they can to rule reasonably with this in mind. An example of when this discretion could be applied differently is if four students ask to stay inside alone during recess to complete a group project. While an accident without supervision is possible, if the students are known to be responsible, a teacher
TC (a pseudonym) is a young third grader at a local elementary school. The school looks and feels like any typical elementary school anywhere in North Carolina. However, when you walk down the hall to the EC class is located, you see a room that has little light on inside. Occasionally there will be lights on but for the most part they are not. Once you quietly enter the room, one notices a whiteboard on the immediate right with a small group of 10-12 desks side by side in a “U” shape facing the board. The remainder of the room is divided into three sections. Each section has a “C” shaped table for the special needs teacher and the teacher assistant. In the last section closest to the wall, there is a metal swing hanging from a metal stand. There are several computers in the two outer divided sections but only the three computers by the teacher’s area are active. These appear to be where extra time is rewarded on these computers to play educational games. Because of the way the room is des...
High-School, and follows Ms. Gruwell, a new teacher, and her class: room 203. Her class, a seemingly troubled bunch, are all involved in different gangs that are based on ethnicity; this results in their poor academic grades and a lack of concern for schooling, as well as acts of violence amongst the students. By caring for the students’ well-being and implementing different and interactive exercises in the classroom, the students begin to work together and form a new social group within that classroom; one that accepts each other inside and outside of room 203.
Teachers need to report the issue to the school. If kids are taught at a young at right from wrong behavior it would probably help in the long term to situations leading to this. We learn a lot of unuseful skills at school such as calculus and eventually forget what we learn in a week or two being out of school. Instead of teaching us things only a partial amount of students would need in the long term, allow a class that teaches the bad in the world and help us understand how to cope with
