One important reason that their actions were foolish and immature, so they should of been punished that is because they stole from a cottage when they would've waited and explained the story and then ask for the stuff instead of stealing. According to the goats page 22 second to last paragraph it says “he put on the pants , he couldn’t stand on one leg so he had to sit down in a chair to do it”. So what Brock Cole is saying here is the evidence supports the claim because the claim was saying how they stole from a cottage without permission and my evidence is showing the movements he was doing when he was stealing clothing. health and help them get back home. But the argument that “he put on the pants , he couldn’t stand on one leg so he had to sit down in a chair to do it”is still true. The key point is that just because they needed stuff they could of been just asking people for money until they had enough to make a phone call home which they would have more food and their health would be good and all of that would be good even without stealing. Simon, sitting between the twins and Piggy, wiped his mouth and shoved his piece of meat over the rocks to Piggy, who grabbed it. The twins giggled and Simon lowered his face in shame.
At Simon’s murder the boys, “Leapt on to the beast, screamed, struck, bit and tore.”
... justification would carry weight in determining who would be sent to Hell if I were making the determination. Lewis and Ed each had their faults. They acted in a way that could be determined a sin, because they did in fact take two other people's lives, but when you look at the fact that one had just raped their friend and was likely to kill Ed and Bobby and that the other had killed Drew and was lying in wait to kill the others, they didn't have another choice, if they wanted to make it off of the river alive. The hillbillies, however, did have a choice. They didn't have to rape Bobby and the surviving hillbilly didn't have to kill Drew. They did do those things, without any regard for others, and with only their own selfish wants and needs in mind. That being said, there is no pity or justification in what they did and therefore they should be in Hell.
More of this bad treatment is brought to our attention when the writer talks about his visit to see his brother. His brother describes how things were in the prison. “Grown men treated like children by other grown men. Inmates yanked out of line and punished because a button is undone or hair uncombed.” (439) This was just an example of how they treated these men all the time in prison. Robby was even told by guards that they would get him next and he would soon join his friends in the hole. A man named Leon Patterson became another victim of these guards. The man appeared to be having an asthma attack. Him and the rest of the men tried to get the attention of the guards for help but the crude guards came to help after an hour later. Sadly the man was pronounced dead at the jail. These men are just few of the many African American who get this type of abusive treatment
For example, in the beginning, when the boys first came to the island they gave some respect to the pig they killed, as though they killed it with some decency. “‘Kill the pig. Cut her throat. Spill her blood.”’ (96). This quote is from Jack, the leader of the hunters, even though it sounds inhumane, their knowledge and mindsets were limited and straightforward at that time. They mutilated another pig further into the book, as the result of them thinking they don’t have future consequences. “‘Right up her ass! Did you hear? Did you hear what he said? Right up her ass!’” (195). The way that they killed the pig shows how twisted their mindset have become, and how barbaric their thoughts are by thinking it’s decent to mutilate animals. Robert was an example on the corrupt actions that they did while on the island because there were no restrictions. The killing of the pigs validates the before and after mental state of the boys and the journey they went through to become
In our world today obtaining medical care is an issue in which many people struggle with, especially when it comes to providing it to children. World hunger is also a major problem people from all over the world face everyday. Despite these difficult circumstances, I personally would never feel the justification to steal in order to save a child's life. There around 42.2 million americans living in food insecure households, this includes 13.1 children. Due to many people living in these situations there many other ways in which one can resolve these issues, it is just a matter of looking for them.
Abbott acted both unethically and illegally when he attempted to steal meat from the local corner store. 1“Theft is the act of stealing; specifically: the felonious taking and the removing of the personal property with intent to deprive the rightful owner of it.” Theft is seen to be morally wrong because you are stealing from another person. In society, the ethical thing to do is to pay for the items you are able to take home from the store. Also, illegal because all items have an exchange value either it be goods for goods or goods for money, as it has the knowledge of the owner and a binding contract, that you are now the new owner of the item. Therefore, since Abbott did not pay for the meat he was about to steal from the store, he did not rightfully have a contract which states he owns the meat. Which can cause him to either pay a fine or do jail time under these circumstances. Also, if Abbott was caught, his friend would not be held liable for his actions and all legal blame would do towards Abbott. Ethically, Abbott should have known what his friends were teaching him to do was unethical even if he did not have the money to buy the meat products.
The story, “Breaking In,” is about a horse being trained so that he can carry his master on his back. To be “broken in” means that a horse can wear a bit, bridal, saddle, horseshoes, and collar, and follow a rider’s commands.
By having no sort of society on the island, the little ones are dependent and look to the older ones for support and guidelines. While the older ones do try to give moral support it may not be the best type though. Having said that, most of the boys cannot distinguish what is right from wrong as they all ‘“[made] a ring” (125) and attempted to hurt Robert. Many of the boys think it is okay to physically hurt people since there are no regulations to stop them from doing this. Although, in all circumstances it is a cruel thing to hurt people, especially since they are trying to live on the island peacefully. At the same time, by having more than one becoming immoral can influence others to follow along. Jack, in particular, tends to show a negative impact towards the boys. Jack influences them to do what he wants which is to ‘“ tie them up”’(198), referring to Ralph and Piggy. Without a doubt the little ones follow what Jack says since he is showing leadership. However, the little ones are now captivated to this certain behavior as no rules are being enforced to show what the consequences are if they do something
Griet, from Girl With A Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier and Jean Valjean from Les Miserables are both expected to steal because of their low class, limiting their position in the eyes of their respective societies. In Les Miserables, Jean Valjean is branded as a thief, although he stole for his struggling sister's sake. He is then hounded by the police inspector, Javert, even after serving his sentence, because his low class makes people expect him to continue to steal. When he is under the persona of Monsieur Madeleine and revealed to be Jean Valjean, Fantine dies from shock (Victor Hugo). She would not expect a seemingly rich man like Monsieur Madeleine to steal, because of his high class as a mayor. However, if he was known to be Jean Valjean,
The issue of the beast is still paramount. Both groups now know the that the beast resides on the top of the cliffs. Jack's group hunted and killed a pig, offered up its head on a stick . Simon the non-believer of the beast goes to see for himself. Simon realizes that it was not a beast at all but a human being . He rushes to tell the boys , it is dark out and the boys are on the beach chanting and screaming , the mistakenly take Simon for the beast and kill him. Simon appears to be a messenger coming to spread the good news, but ends up making the ultimate sacrifice. They show him floating on the water , arms stretched wide , he strikes as being a Christ-like figure . As Simon drifts away you see the reflection of light on the water. The boys are now at the peak boys there transition from being good and sensible to being evil and savages. The death of Simon should of set the boys on the right path but that was not the case. Jack's group stole piggy's glasses to make a fire for their pig . Ralph and Piggy go to Jack's camp to get them back. Piggy asks the boys would they rather be civilized and sensible or savages and hunt. As if piggy were giving the boys their last chance to be human and good. The boys push a rock off the cliff and kill piggy. The beast is known to live on top of the cliffs , and here you can see the irony showing just whom the beast really is.
