For this assignment this analysis will focus on some key elements from the film, Bride and Prejudice. The first element this paper will examine is the consistency within the storyline. The second element this paper will examine is conflict and resolution. Finally, this analysis will examine the parts of the film that worked in a global aspect, as well as the parts that were incompatible with the original storyline. There was several characters in the story that were consistent with their motives throughout the film. There were a few characters in the film that were consistent with their motives. The first character is Balraj’s sister Kiran. She is a NIR, who seems to favor Western culture, more so than her own Indian culture. This is apparent with some of her remarks to Darcy. The beginning of the film, Darcy is complaining about the environment, and Kiran’s remark is, “Better get used to it, Darcy. We’re here for two weeks” (Chadha, 2005). Throughout the film Kiran continuously shows sarcasm towards her Indian culture. The second character that is consistent throughout the film is Lakhi. She is a wild young spirit, and ignores any and all advice from her mother about modesty. Lakhi …show more content…

By this statement it is assumed the mother is very traditional, and would not entertain the idea of her daughters marrying outside of their own culture. The only event that I can pinpoint to change her mind about Darcy, is the plane ride where Darcy gives her his first class seat. Mrs. Bakshi makes the statement, “Well, who could have guessed he’s be so thoughtful” (Chadha, 2005)? This statement and sentiments did not seem to make sense, if compared to her original statement. I guess in fairness she was appreciative when Darcy assisted with the Lakhi and Wickham incident. Also, when he assisted correcting his negative involvement between Jaya and Balraj. Overall, there was an implication of a happy ending for the characters
