A very interesting article, the article written by Sarah and is about a tribe that perform in the most often seen taboo way of cannibalism. But this taboo thing as Sarah has said is what is actually saving this tribe from dying from a disease that is often seen in cows as mad cows disease is what is seen in some of the people dying after indulging in this cannibalism. But some as she says are not dieing and she goes along a way of this is the reason why. After some of the people had did this more then once they in a sense adapted to the disease. Humans and others had an amino acid called glycine but the tribe people had a different
amino acid called valine. And this valine protected them from the deadly disease, that resulted from the cannibalism. The main message in this video is on Darwin’s theory of evolution. The tribe people unknowingly adapted on the genetic level and adapted an amino acid to counter the disease. They evolved to survive and continue reproducing and surviving. I myself thought the article very interesting and educational. The idea of that actually eating the brains was bad but then good is kind of twisted in its own way. It brought forth studies that could one day help with things that are degenerative diseases like the author said. And it wouldn’t of been found out without this taboo way of cannibalism. As it brought forth in the article I could only think of linking the area of where we learned about evolution of genes in class. But this article brought forth more, it brought this article that was in the real world something interesting and makes such a good example to use and relates so well to evolution. I learned of the tribe that cannibalism there dead ones but also how the cannibalism saved them at the same time. Though I don’t agree with the idea of cannibalism everyone’s culture and beliefs are different, it was a interesting and educational article and I enjoyed reading it. Would love to read another like it. It helped science and I love science.
The argumentative article “More Pros than Cons in a Meat-Free Life” authored by Marjorie Lee Garretson was published in the student newspaper of the University of Mississippi in April 2010. In Garretson’s article, she said that a vegetarian lifestyle is the healthy life choice and how many people don’t know how the environment is affected by their eating habits. However, if human organs which are rich in B vitamins and folic acid are eaten along with the human meat, homocysteine is not able to metabolize in the bloodstream. My objective in the long term is to provide therapeutic and counseling services that assist persons suffering with traumatic brain injury (TBI) or acquired brain injury (ABI) in coping and recovering from the mental illnesses that often accompany such tragedies. The CDC claims that approximately 1.4 million Americans suffer TBIs annually (Centers for Disease Control Injury Center May 30, 2007 Traumatic Brain Injury in the United States: Emergency Department Visits, Hospitalizations, and Deaths) and it has been called the “signature injury” of the current wars in Iraq & Afghanistan by the National Alliance on Mental Illness. As such, it is my belief that we need to focus time and energy on developing new programs to help these patients to cope with the new limitations and encourage rehabilitation and restoration.

To ensure the effective management of neurological emergencies an appropriate and timely neurological assessment is essential. Several factors are associated with the effectiveness and appropriateness of neurological assessments within the pre-hospital setting. Some examples include, variable clinical presentations, difficulty undertaking investigations, and the requirement for rapid management and transportation decisions (Lima & Maranhão-Filho, 2012; Middleton et al., 2012; Minardi & Crocco, 2009; Stocchetti et al., 2004; Yanagawa & Miyawaki, 2012). Through a review of current literature, the applicability and transferability of a neurological assessment within the pre-hospital clinical environment is critiqued. Blumenfeld (2010) describes the neurological assessment as an important analytical tool that evaluates the functionality of an individual’s nervous system. Blumenfeld (2010) dissected and evaluated the neurological assessment into six functional components, mental status, cranial nerves, motor exam, reflexes, co-ordination and gait, and a sensory examination.
