The Boy In The Stripped Pajamaś was based on the time of the Holocaust and World War II. The Jews were forced to wear an armband with the star of David so they could be targeted easily.¨11 million people were killed during the Holocaust (1.1 million children). 6 million of those victims were Jewish. Other groups targeted by the Nazis were Jehovah’s Witnesses, homosexuals, disabled people, and Roma¨(DS, N/A). This whole story was based on a 9 year old named Bruno from Berlin with a sister named Gretel. His Father was a Commandant and was loved by the leader called Hitler. Bruno would have thought what could happened if he went into the camp with Shmuel to hangout with him. “He looked into the distance then and followed it through logically,step by step by step, and when he did he found that his legs seemed to stop working right- as if they couldn't hold his body up any longer - and he ended up sitting on the ground in almost exactly the same position as Bruno had everyday for a year, although he didnt cross his legs beneath him” (Boyne, 215). This quote is explaining Brunoś father trying to find him and figure out what happened to Bruno, then he realized what happened to Bruno. Bruno would have know that the Germans didnt like the Jews, he wouldn’t have gotten close to the fence, and he wouldn't even think of being friends with Shmuel. “He had thought that there would be a shop in centre, and maybe a small cafe like the ones had known in Berlin; he had wondered whether there would be a fruit and vegetable stand” (Boyne, 207). This is the second reason why Bruno should have been more smart about what he was doing with Shmuel and should have listened to his parents telling him not to go past a certain
