I’ve always found fishing to be kind of boring. I hate having to wait for the fish to snag your line, and it is even more irritating when I see a really nice size fish but just can’t get it to bite. I never thought there would be a much more exciting way to get the fish. The thing is I hadn’t even heard about bowfishing until about a year or two ago when one of my friends invited me to go out with him. I was just watching and learning for that trip, I never even got a chance to shoot a fish. However, I could still feel the excitement when my friend caught a fish and I knew that I wanted to make this new found sport of bowfishing a hobby of mine. My boat originally had a lot of leaks and had many old parts that could use replacing. I began this restoration by first buying a generator to run my lights of of which were halogen light bulbs at the time. Then I purchased my new LED lights and waited for these new items to arrive. As I waited, I went and bought myself two bows, reels, and arrows. One of these complete setups I bought from Al and Pete’s in Hastings. The other I purchased from Bob’s Gun and Tackle. I then took my boat over to my friend’s house. He let me use his workshop and helped me fix my boat. We started with the leaks. Scott’s dad welded the major hole and scott taught me how to solder around all of the rivets that were coming loose in the boat. Then we wired up a new tail light for the trailer as well as my new lights when those eventually came in. The leaks however didn’t go away, I figured that out when i took it on the river for a test run. I then decided to just go buy the Flex Seal that you may have seen on T.V.
