In the essay, “Boston and New York in the Eighteenth Century” by author Pauline Maier describes the duties and personalities to the American colonial cities and what made New York and Boston so exclusive and distinctive from one another by the point of the eighteenth century. Maier comes to an end of the cities that are being observed and concentrated functions of the Boston and New York were the local capitals and important to the cultural centers of newspapers and pamphlets being advertised, deliberated, and delivered. In the seventeenth century, the Boston merchants had encountered with their colony’s Puritan leaders to separate Massachusetts from the Old World contamination to verify the demands of commerce. New York and Boston have their differences not only in the people or legislation, but the feelings and character that surrounded culture. They did a request of the characteristics of how they establish and continue over the time also their effects in the American history.
New York’s community was distinct in provenance of French, English, Germans, Jews and more Europeans including a lot of African people. The assortment of New York’s people were very distorted same as the Boston’s community and the French Huguenots converted themselves into Anglicans to make the city more cooperative. In the eighteenth century, Boston and New York provided information of a new obscurity with the people that imitated the expansion of their populations and that the evolution started to become slower. In the nineteenth century, Boston is true to the colonial connection which they become the proficiency capital of the new democracy. Also, they have a financial center to allow only New Yorkers during the 1840s. New York played a long obscure role in the government of the Revolution including Boston. New York and Boston never captured on an identical symbolic attention because there was a bunch of promises that were really hard to understand which bounded values of an entrenched and well-represented of the ancient tradition, but it was incontestable which the populations arose from the American eighteenth century and they still needed to continue overtime no matter what happens.
The Chesapeake and New England regions were settled by people of English descent, but by 1700, they had become two distinctly different societies. They had evolved so differently, mainly because of the way that the settlers followed their religion, their way of conducting politics and demographics in the colonies. Even though the settlers came from the same homeland: England, each group had its own reasons for coming to the New World and different ideas planned for the colonies.
Did the American Revolution suddenly make Concord more cosmopolitan in its outlook? Gross may have some valid points here. For example, the faculty and students at Harvard relocated to Concord for its 1775-1776 academic year, exposing many of Concord 's social elites to new ideas and social relations. Certainly, Concord 's sons who volunteered or were conscripted into the militias and Continental Army traveled to new places and discovered new ideas. Nevertheless, Gross also demonstrates that the economic problems (land scarcity) had already accelerated emigration from Concord—the younger generations were rejecting their patrimony and staking a claim westward or in other, less settled New England communities. Many of these wayward and prodigal sons returned to Concord and subsequently became
While both the people of the New England region and of the Chesapeake region descended from the same English origin, by 1700 both regions had traveled in two diverse directions. Since both of these groups were beset with issues that were unique to their regions and due to their exposure to different circumstances, each was forced to rethink and reconstruct their societies. As a result, the differences in the motivation, geography, and government in the New England and Chesapeake regions caused great divergence in the development of each.
Social differences are one of the reasons New England and Chesapeake developed into two distinct societies. People in England were tired of being oppressed by the government, so they wanted to come to the New World for new opportunities and better treatment. According to a source from Massachusetts of the New England Colonies, “our town shall be composed of forty families,…rich and poor…every inhabitant shall have a convenient proportion for a house lot, as we shall see [fit] for everyone’s quantity and estate…everyone shall have a share o...
Horsmanden’s journal provides a wealth of information about eighteenth century New York if one is willing to analyze it critically and ignore the bias present in it. If one does this they catch fascinating glimpses of a divided world, one where people are partitioned by race, economic status, homeland and religion. A world filled with fear and suspicion caused by the tension inherent within such societal division. The same tensions that either gave rise to a massive conspiracy to destroy the town of New York or gave credence to a nightmare constructed by the minds of the people and fed by individuals’ self-serving nature. Regardless, eighteenth century New York was a troubled place and Horsmanden’s Journal of the Proceedings gives us a partial but valuable insight to the lives and interactions of colonial New York’s peoples.

Thus, emigration and immigration in Concord was well-established before the American Revolution.

The Chesapeake region and New England colonies greatly differed in their development of their two distinct societies. The Chesapeake region was a loosely fitted society with little connection with each plantation while the New England colonies had tightly knitted communities with a sort of town pride. The difference in unity and the reason for this difference best explain the significant disparity between the dissimilar societies.

The could easily turn the Boston Massacre victims into martyrs who had sacrificed their lives to overturn the unmerited laws and acts of the British. The Boston Tea Party which resulted in the Intolerable acts which cut off Boston 's trade could be perceived as the Britain 's cruel and harsh laws. It was another punishment to the colonies that wasn 't right. The Daughters of Liberty were the women who received great honour from the people as they had taken up the making of clothes that everyone had depended on from British trade. The Son of Liberty was a secret group of American colonists who fought for the protection of their rights and taxation. One of my favourite members was Hercules mulligan who would become a key spy in the revolution for the patriots. The Committee of Correspondence in Boston communicated with the other colonies saying they should begin opposing the sugar and currency acts, much like Boston was doing, the states needed to act as one in this early rebellion. At first, this was directed to the rich but John Adams wrote “the people, even to the lowest ranks” were to defend their natural
The town of Boston was a very unstable throughout the 1760’s. This instability quickly turned to violence in the early part of 1770’s. Tension had already begun to in the beginning of the year with various clashes between the British and the colonists. However, in early March the tensions erupted into bloodshed to create what we now know as the Boston Massacre. The occurrence of these events is a fact, however, the interpretations of them has changed over time. The reports are colored by events that are taking place during the period of time in which they were written and by the author’s own prejudices and opinions. However, we can use these imperfections as a way of tracking what is occurring in America and the state of politics.
