Book Review: The Strong Lines From 'Burro Genius'

1. The strong lines from: “Burro Genius” that stood out the most for me are in chapter one, page fifteen. The first strong lines is: I wrote for ten years before I got published! I’d written over six books…sixty-five short stories and four plays… and received more than two hundred sixty rejections before I got published! The reason why this strong line stood out for me is that Victor Villasenor have worked so hard, he put his effort into the books, plays, that he had written and did not give up even though he received more than two hundred rejections.
The second strong line is: “And it was hate and rage towards abusive teachers that kept me going year after year…with the hope that one day I’d get published, and have a voice, so I could make difference down here in our hearts, and guts,” I said, grabbing hold of my own gut, “where we really live, if we’ve going to live a life worth living!” This strong line made me feel like Victor Villasenor have been through many abusive, bullied, from teachers and friends. However, he created hope in his life to motivate what he loves to do and defending himself through passion

The author’s purpose in this strong lines is to inform his childhood experiences, explain how he motivated himself and criticizing about the work that teacher have been doing. In the first strong line, the author is trying to inform the fact that he had been rejected, but he make it to be an obsession and kept going to rewrite. He defeated all of the disadvantages and stand out for himself to show the guts that he put into his own life with motivations and hope. He’s also criticizing and complaining about the works of teachers that needed to improve. Teachers need to understand how their students learn in the classroom and not by torturing them by their mistake like commas, period or misspelling, and make them feel like they are less then
