There have been many solutions that have come to light when it comes to the negativity surrounding body image on the media. The first existing solution started in the early 2000s. Jill Andrew and Aisha Fairclough are the founders of the Body Confidence Canada Awards. It is a plan that celebrates body positivity and acceptance all around Canada. Currently, there is an ongoing petition to make fat discrimination illegal in Ontario and need 10,000 signatures. Jill Andrew and Aisha Fairclough want to see the anti-shaming franchise open up to more women of colour and aboriginal, indigenous, disabled and trans communication. The founders believe that those types are underrepresented. Along with that, they want to see a variety of beautiful body shapes represented on the media, positively, as well. Another ongoing solution would be that companies are changing their hiring guidelines and policies to suit the needs of everyone. For instance, Abercrombie changed their hiring policies and guidelines to be more inclusive. The company stopped featuring shirtless models, and began to include people of various sizes. The government should put more money into promoting those body positivity franchises. The government should also take the time to remove/ban negative body image stigma that can be seen in media which can so much harm to growing individuals as in their minds, “thin” is ideal may be instilled, which is not good at all for their futures. Also, companies should pay more attention to their advertisement methods. The companies should change their policies in order to make it more inclusive and diverse from all aspects, like size, race,
