I see this with the green washing marketing strategies employed by so many companies these days. Even NGO’s are becoming more and more similar to a corporate model than that of a traditional NGO. A fraction of my donation actually goes to foreign aid with certain companies. It is important to choose companies and NGO’s that are transparent in their operations. Transparency allows consumers to make informed decisions. It was interesting to come into this class with an Environmental background because I didn’t think that I could relate to this class so much. Community development is largely environmental and social. I am a more informed consumer from my experiences this semester. It is exciting and scary to see the world in this perspective, but I feel like I have grown from the knowledge that I gained from this class.

Solomon's silver watch contained multifaceted significance with regard to his character and it's effect on Livvie--it represented prestige and wealth, control and obsession, and a life of dark retreat. For Solomon the watch represented the prestige and wealth that were rarely attained by colored people. "For he was a colored man that owned his land and had it written down in the courthouse." (P. 85) Yet the watch also had another dimensionCit meant control over his life and his possessions, including Livvie.

This happens when Sara and her best friend go to a speed dating get together. Hitch arrives, being direct with Sara about Albert being a great man and how in love he is with Allegra. Sara blasts back, once again assuming what Hitches motives are with his clients and his own. Hitch is opening up a little in this scene and Sara is not noticing because her mind is still clouded over what she assumes previously. Once Hitch realizes who the source is, he clarifies that the information is false and lets both Sara and her best friend know the truth. Later, Sara tries to apologize to Hitch for exposing his job and all the trouble she has caused. It was in fact not the bad business that she had thought originally, and in fact was doing something positive. The positive that Hitch was doing, was helping the guys communicate better with the women they like, instead of false pretenses.
While rebels had control of the diamond mines, they killed approximately 4 million people and countless families were displaced. The acts of violence that were perpetrated by rebels in Africa were horrific. Adults and children were murdered, mutilated, tortured, and raped. The Revolutionary United Front (RUF) in Sierra Leone performed despicable acts of cutting off people's body parts with machetes to instill fear in the community. If you were working in the diamond mines and not performing up to the standards of the rebels, you would lose a body part as punishment.
...ba (112). Throughout the novel, Sethe is devoted to the search of her husband just like Solomon’s beloved wife. Although Sethe never reunites with her husband because he was killed by slaveholders, Morrison creates a replacement in the character Paul D, another former slave. Paul D satisfies the biblical beloved’s description of Sethe’s bridegroom: “I am my beloved’s and his desire is toward me” (7:10), thus fulfilling the promise of a requited love that is pictured in the union of Solomon and Sheba (120).

So after Jonathan and Chad received their awards, the “Black Panther”, or Sean Banks, is delivered to the court for his trial. In his confession, they learned that Sean Banks was Michael Smith’s co-worker and was jealous that Smith got a promotion instead of him. But he had done more than just killing. He was behind the theft of a diamond in a museum and also sold drugs. They showed the evidence that proves Sean Banks was the “Black Panther” and he was declared guilty by the judge. He was sentenced to a lifetime in prison and Jonathan and Chad go back home to celebrate. They throw a party and invite their friends and family. After the party ends, they sit down on the couch and watch some TV. Suddenly, a “Breaking News” appears on the TV.
...it can be quite challenging to monitor, adapt to, and respond to so many demands and obligations, but it is well worth for it. Not only is it ethical and helps you treat people and nature fairly and respectfully, but it is also just good business sense. Nowadays, customers are attracted to companies and brands that are socially responsible. Take, for instance, the green fashion movement. While it was once dismissed as a trend, its ability to stick around for so many years has proven that people want to do well and buy good.
The conflict began when Mathilde attended a party wearing a necklace she borrowed from a rich friend, which was discovered lost by the end of the night. Mathilde finally got a glimpse into the life she believed she belonged to, but both she and her husband paid for it heavily for many years to come. The necklace she borrowed and lost served as a gateway into that world, and as a hasty exit out of it.
The more experience you have putting these tips into practice, the more they will become instinct. And by making informed decisions and ensuring that the product’s claims are accurate, you can feel good about the choices you make and their positive impact on the environment. If more greenwashing means that marketers are increasingly responding to the demand for sustainable products, this could be a positive trend. If left unchecked, greenwashing creates significant risks. Consumers will give up on marketers and manufacturers, and give up on the hope that their spending might be put to good use. Recent developments suggest companies should be prepared for the new wave of measures. Greenwashing has become a buzz word for consumers and the media. Unfortunately, the rules are not always clear when it comes to responsible environmental marketing.
It is obvious that the school aims to be a major player in the development of a responsible and sustainable economic and social environment. According to me, this is mainly visible through the large number of courses offered related to social responsibility topics, the CSR research seminars and CSR days.
Something interesting about the blood diamond is there was a movie in 2006 called Blood Diamond. In Blood Diamond set during the Sierra Leone Civil War in 1996–2001, the film depicts a country torn apart by the struggle between government loyalists and insurgent forces. It also portrays many of the atrocities of that war, including the rebels' elimination of people's hands to discourage them from voting in upcoming elections, there was a movie called Gold about
