After placing the last board over the hole, Justin heard someone talking and ran behind a tree, he heard him say. “You and that cap, I wish you would leave it in the truck.” “You don’t understand I’ve worn that cap for over twenty years and I’m not ready to give it up, just to please you,” the man said when they arrived at the hole. Picking up a stick, he started poking around in the leaves.“I know it’s up here and I’ll find it. Look here, I found my cap,” he said, holding it up in the air as if he had found a valuable prize. “Hey look, what I found,” he said, holding up the pocketknife. After checking his pockets, Justin thought and panicked. “Someone’s been up here,” the man said looking around. “Let’s get out of here and see what the …show more content…
Justin thought, terrified as he waited to make sure they wouldn’t return. Being aware the area contained many abandoned coal mines now that he had seen one, it was not scary, but it sure did stink. Recalling the deep pits filled with muddy water near Ernest’s house, he understood why he wanted the kids to stay away from them. Wait until I tell everyone I came up here by myself and was safe. I want to tell Ernest before I tell my friends. I am sure Kenny will be angry he stayed home. He thought, shaking his fist in the air while going around the mountainside slipping and sliding. Stopping to rest, Justin saw several tall stones and went to check them. Climbing over rotten logs and an old barbed wire fence, he stepped around some large tombstones standing tall and statuesque while others lay on the ground partially covered with leaves. Justin said, “Look an old cemetery.” “Wow, these are old.” He kicked the leaves away from the stone before he noticed an old box lying several feet away and went to look at it. At first, he touched it with is foot before he saw it partially buried. Getting down on his hands and knees, he moved the dirt and picked up the box as bones fell on the ground. “Holy crap, what is that? I found the ghost!” He screamed and started running down the mountainside, flinging his hands in the air like a wild boy until he slipped and rolled into a …show more content…
Cassidy’s house without permission. Reminding, himself that he was growing up, now that he had lied. After all, that was the way most adults handled difficult situations ─ lie about their involvement. “Are you sure that’s what happened?” Again she asked, suspicious of his actions. “Yes, Mom,” he answered without any hesitation. “Sorry, I know you went to his house again and I’m upset,” Louise said, pointing her finger and took another sip, Refusing to answer, Juarin went to his room, knowing if he told her the truth, she would put him on restriction. After calling Kenny to ask why he failed to meet him as promised, Justin listened as Kenny explained how Mark called and said Chuck’s mother learned about their planned trip and refused to him go. When he learned what they didn’t tell Justin they weren’t going it made Kenny angry. “They didn’t call me. Knowing I was alone and scared,” Justin said, now he was angry with Mark and Chuck. Kenny asked, “Do you think they planned it this way?” “They knew I didn’t know they weren’t going,” Justin said, getting more upset. “You just wait, We’ll take care of them for tricking us.” Promising and Kenny agreed to help. “We need to think about it. I’ll talk to you later.” Returning to the living room to face his
Cole and peter whet to the pond and soaked. They had soaked so many times that that they just jumped in the pond with a splash. As they carried the ancestor rock up the hill they paused in their tracks. Less than 6 feet away was the spirit bear. But something was different about the bear, it had open wounds and blood on its white fur. Peter and Cole just stood there in that same position with the big ancestor rock behind them. The Spirit bear was so still that it amazed them so much that it scared them. At once they inched backwards down that hill.
“So…” His harsh voice started, sizing me up thoroughly. “You’re the institution’s golden boy eh, some mid-twenty something greenhorn coming in and telling us how to do our jobs without a single day of patrol under his belt!” “Twenty-two actually sir.” I replied blankly.
Super massive black holes are enormous black holes which have a mass equivalent to large numbers of solar masses. A black hole is called a super massive black hole when a normal "galactic nuclei black hole" has a mass range between 0.1 million to 10 million solar masses. (Cardiff University 2014). It is believed that one solar mass is equal the mass of the sun, so that would make a super-massive black hole very large compared to the sun. Super-massive black holes having a large mass would make its gravity incredibly limitless, this would mean that even a star which is many light years away would be impelled by the super-massive black hole. (Millis 2014)
Geologist John Mitchell is credited with first devising the idea of a black hole. He said that if some force could compress the sun down to an small enough size, it would have a gravitational field so strong, that one would need to be going faster than the speed of light to escape it (UTFC). All objects in the universe have what is called a schwarzschild radius. An object’s schwarzschild radius is the radius that an object would have to be compressed into in order to have an escape velocity greater than that of the speed of light, or a black hole. (VSBH). Using the earth as an example, if the entire earth was compressed to the size of a peanut, it would become a black hole (VSBH). Earth would then have a gravitational field so strong that not even light could escape it. However there is no known force that can compress earth down to such a small size.
...nbsp; "I'll call you back when I'm not pissed," this is Chapel talking to Jane when she refused to come down to see him for no apparent reason. He also was angered that she used the phrase about her not being a groupie.
A Black Hole is defined as an object in space that is so compact, that has a gravitational pull so powerful, not even light can escape its pull. In most cases Black Holes are formed when a massive star (much larger than our own) undergoes a supernova explosion. When this happens, the star may collapse on its own gravitational pull, thus resulting in a an object with infinitely large density and zero volume. As a result, the escape velocity (the speed required to escape the gravitational pull) becomes even greater than the speed of light, and because nothing can travel faster than the speed of light, nothing can escape a black hole.
To first understand a black hole, you must understand how it is created. Most black holes are produced by dying stars that have a mass twenty times greater than our sun. A star eventually becomes a black hole because the energy and pressure pushing outward is overcome by gravity that pushes inward. For big stars the gravity force causes a star to collapse under its own weight. The star then will explode as a supernova and some outer parts of the star are sent out into space. The core is still intact, and if it has collapsed under its own weight, it will have formed a star. This core is said to have nearly zero volume, but with infinite density, known as a singularity.
She reaches for a glass and drops it on the ground. She curses under her tongue and carefully walks around the glass on the floor to get a broom. She goes into the closest in the hall and grabs the broom. The broom gets caught on a box and it falls to the ground, a yellow envelope comes out of the box. Cassidy leans the broom up against the wall and opens the envelope to find multiple pictures. She walks into the kitchen as she goes through them. She lands on a picture of the man who kills her parents and a young boy. She turns it around and it reads ‘Richard and Alexander Sites’. Cassidy steps on the glass on the floor and
The child’s game had ended. After I nearly ran Kurtz over, we stood facing each other. He was unsteady on his feet, swaying like the trees that surrounded us. What stood before me was a ghost. Each layer of him had been carved away by the jungle, until nothing remained. Despite this, his strength still exceeded that of my own. With the tribal fires burning so close, one shout from him would unleash his natives on me. But in that same realization, I felt my own strength kindle inside me. I could just as easily muffle his command and overtake him. The scene flashed past my eyes as though I was remembering not imagining. The stick that lay two feet from me was beating down on the ghost, as my bloodied hand strangled his cries. My mind abruptly reeled backwards as I realized what unspeakable dark thoughts I had let in. Kurtz seemed to understand where my mind had wandered; it was as though the jungle’s wind has whispered my internal struggles to him. His face twisted into a smile. He seemed to gloat and enjoy standing by to watch my soul begin to destroy itself.
“Do you want to see whats under that sheet?” said Ervin, pointing at the tall object.
When he finds himself before the tombstone, something is different. A fresh spray of roses has been laid upon the grave. Kneeling down, he runs a finger along one rose, the blossom still curling with life. Pale petals drenched in dew, leaves like wax, thorns jagged and defiant. His eyes search the grave for a trace of this new intruder. He is curious but miffed; he had believed himself to be the only visitor here. He felt a sense of belonging with the grave, as though his own name should be scrawled beneath that of the deceased. He wishes that he had felt closer with the fleshless creature now sheltered within the grave. They had been friends and almost lovers, nearly united as one, all the fragments fitting together--but then the passing of time tore them in half. Where life has failed them, death is infinitely more skilled; it brings them unbearably close.
“hey, Jeff, can uou slow down, it’s hard to match your speed of you go so .” James called out from the back of the canoe.
I picked up the link and held it toward him, the metal oily and strangely skinlike now with the slanting sun entering the window. "Would you care to examine it, Brother? One of our members wore it nineteen years on the chain gang."
Black holes are the result of the death of a massive star, leaving behind a dense remnant core that eventually collapses to create a gravitational force so strong that nothing, including light, can escape the force. The theory that black holes existed started back in the early 1900s and since then astronomers and scientists have been trying to get a better understanding of them. This phenomenon has been a working progress for astronomers and scientists for many years and as we develop a better understanding of our solar system, the more likely it is to make a significant discovery that can answer some of the most difficult questions about our incredible galaxy and solar system. The more information we are able to acquire about our universe, the more questions we might be able to answer about our existence. With advancements in technology we may be able to see some significant discoveries and insights into the world of black holes.
