Self-employed people are faced with more risk if their business does not succeed, decision making is also more complex because they have no one to decide with when taking certain steps that might be of an advantage or not. There is no sort of teamwork, corporation except maybe with family members. However, a company receives all this benefit because they have people to work with, this encourages teamwork, brings about easier decision making and less risk. For example, if the company is running at a loss and does not have enough money to recover or even so cannot repay their debts, certainly, the business would have to dissolve. But this has an advantage over self-employment because the money used to repay this debt does not affect the personal property of the shareholders or employees. On the contrary, if this happens to a self employed business some of their private property like their cars, houses, savings and so on would be sold off to repay the debt. For this reason, a company indeed enjoys less risk and responsibilities than a self employed
After I earn a degree in business, I plan to work for a company where I will gain experience until I am ready to start my own business. Even though I haven’t narrowed down what field I want my business to serve, I know I want to pursue ownership when I am ready. Being the boss matters. The difference between me owning my own business and having to work for somebody is that I will be more committed and even with long hours, I know that it will be worth it to build something of my own. Making my own decisions and taking my own risks is different from working for someone like my family does now. It will mean long, hard hours, but I will have something to be proud of instead of just living from paycheck to
It is really risky because if they don’t succeed well, they will get no job and no earnings because they already resigned their jobs. This is why people are afraid to establish their own company. Although, some people think it’s worth it because if you succeed, you’ll earn much quite much, it is too risky to try it. My father established a company when I was 12 years old, and I am strongly proud of him. Although, he succeeded well, he was objected by my mother.
When contemplating about life, there are many responsibilities that people have to take care of in their everyday lives. As people age, it seems that the amount of responsibilities grows bigger and bigger. The most important responsibility is making ends meet and it’s hard for some people to fulfill these kinds of tasks if they are not given opportunities in the workforce. Everyone needs a job to obtain basic needs and when they cannot find one, they are most likely to be self-employed. In a country like Canada, self-employment has made a big impact to the economy because there are many Canadians that choose to start up their own business and try to survive in the market.

The corporate landscape is ever-changing, presenting new challenges for entrepreneurs (Hanna, 2012). According to Lisa Mitchell, Vice President of advancing innovation for the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, global is the biggest trend. Companies are starting out global instead of the traditional way of starting local, then starting in your region, then going to your country. Also, women entering the career field of self-employment and small business ownership have also been increasing. It is believed that women have been pushed into self-employment by the promise of independence, flexibility and the opportunity to escape barriers in paid employment. Over the past two decades, the number of self-employed women has nearly tripled and they now account for over one-third of all self-employed workers (Statistics Canada, 1997).
The success of a business is greatly dependent on its entrepreneur. An entrepreneur is someone who takes the financial risk of starting and managing a new business venture. In order to be a successful entrepreneur, one must be ready to take a risk and invest one’s own savings into a business. The job requires that the individual be ambitious and committed to working hard in order to achieve the set targets. A successful entrepreneur is able to multi-task and communicates effectively with people, possessing leadership qualities such as confidence and motivation. The individual must play the role of constant motivator and inspire employees to improve their work performance, whilst ensuring a comfortable environment for the employees to work in. According to Schumpeter (1982), an entrepreneur is more of a ‘heroic’ than an ‘economic’ figure; his motivation should not solely be monetary, rather stemming more from inspiration and ambition.
Running your own business allows to avoid the ridiculous red-tape and bureaucracy that often constrains an employee based role, and take immediate action to get things done faster and more efficiently. As a business owner you call the shots - no more stupid corporate procedures or authorisation gate-keepers 19. Get out of bed every morning and feel motivated - at least 90% of the time - because you are building something for yourself (and not for some other rich business owner / shareholder). Working for yourself is the biggest motivator as you have everything to prove and only yourself to
When it comes to business, especially when it comes to starting one, I tend to think I know it all. Yet in reality, I don't really even know how to get started, enough to make a business efficient, or even get the doors open enough to make the first dollar. When I first think of working/operating a business, I think of no boss but myself, the rules are made by me and no one else, and that seems like a great plan in my eyes. As well as having all company profit coming directly to me, and I get to decide what happens with it. Although I know there is more to it than that, there is forming a budget, working with customers, knowing when to expand, and when to coast through. I also know that in the world of business, that if you aren't moving ahead, you are moving backwards.

I am gratified to reflect on my Entrepreneurial Potential Self-Assessment. I have always enjoyed learning the concepts of running and managing a business. Personally, what I enjoy generally is implying these concepts in real life situations. Seeing the ‘real life’ effects are stimulating to me. I always saw myself running a stable/well- establish business; however, I never saw myself running my own business. For my part, I find that I do not have all the characteristics an entrepreneur should have. Therefore, the results are not surprising, but assuring of what my strengths and weaknesses are.
In today’s ever changing economy, people are now more accepting of entrepreneurship as a career. Although many entrepreneurs state different motivations for starting a new business such as passion, career freedom, a cause or profit they all face the same financial, regulatory and legal obstacles.
