The topic I’m speaking on is Periwinkle and Lemon Grass. Periwinkle was first found in Madagascar where the calid climates are located. It is known to treat many things. The main thing it is used for is leukemia and Hodgkin’s disease.
Lemon Grass is also found in calid climate such as Thailand and China. Lemon grass is known to treat breast cancer. It is also known to treat many other things such as colds, and coughs.
Periwinkle is a biennial, tracheophyte herbaceous plant in the dogbane family that was primitively adapted to the island of Madagascar. It has been widely civilized for hundreds of years. It can now be found flourishing untamed in most calid areas of the world including the Southern United States. The plant matures to one or two feet high. It has dark green leaves and matures all summer. Periwinkle is known for its capability in desiccated and nutritionally substandard conditions. It is an easygoing flora discovered in semi-tropical areas. It can also be found where the temperatures are ne’er declivity beneath five degrees Celsius. It is known for its long maturing time. Annually Madagascans healers use periwinkle for treating diabetes. This led to its discovery from western scientists who then found its anti- cancer properties. Its chemical properties are found in many cases to treat cancer. This revealing led to one of the most significant medical discoveries of the last century. Lemon grass is a green and white plant with razor sharp like blades and is matured across the planet in calid climates. It has adapted to the southern part of India. It is also found in abundance in other South Eastern countries such as Thialand, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
What this tells us is that nature is our medicine cabinet. We are on step closer to new findings in the world. Lemon Grass and periwinkle are both types of rain forest medical discoveries. What we have learned today is that both of these plants treat colds and coughs. Sore throats, high cholestrerol, and many other things. I felt like I got a lot out of this research.
In Cherokee medicine, it is believed that councils of animals created diseases in order to avenge the loss of their families and living spaces. The plants, being sympathetic to humans, decided to each furnish a cure for these diseases. It is believed that the spirit of the plant will tell a sick person which one to use to cure his illness.
