Everyday we make decisions that will affect us in long term, but we may not always realize it. It might be the fast food we buy, or that extra hour of hanging out with your friends. Maybe the decision to not finish that assignment that is due tomorrow because sleep is more important. Setting your priorities straight is a tough task, but can be accomplished if you can be disciplined. As the new year takes off my goal is to change the outcome of those long term choices by staying disciplined. Reminding myself that schools comes before everything, putting money towards college or rent, and surrounding myself with people who will have a positive affect on my life. Life outside of high school or even in high school can create great stress. Some people get worried about assignments, if they will get to class on time, or maybe even if they will pass a class. Remaining mentally disciplined can be difficult, but this year I will so my best to stay strong mentally. It starts with taking care of my school work first. Parents will not be at college to remind me …show more content…
Spending money on items they will use temporarily or for short term satisfaction like fast food. Instead take that money and put into a savings account to pay for your rent or student loans. Credit cards become a problem also. If there is no discipline on spending it is easy to lose track of how much money you will owe at the end of the month. I am experiencing a problem like this with my debit card. Just about everyday I am spending money on food or pop which I am sure I will regret by the time I owe money for student loans. Starting in this year my goal is to have more disciplined spending. As of now I do not have to pay for my own gas, but once I leave the assistance from my parents will leave also. Being stingy with my money will be important, and will impact my college experience if there is money to spend later. Discipline is important now to prevent stress
Some of my biggest barriers to being successful here is the stress that comes with being in a tougher school, as well as balancing everything outside of school. I need to get over my procrastination, I need to think more positively of myself so that I am more confident. I need to chose those things that I want to worry about and stop trying to make everyone happy, I need to pick and chose my limits and stick to those without letting anyone mess with them. When things aren't going right I need to step back and figure out what is important at that time and what i need to take a break
Anxiety ran throughout my entire body the morning before my first class of college began. Not knowing what to expect of my professors, classmates, and campus scared me to death. I knew the comparison to senior year of high school and freshman year of college would be minute, but never did it occur to me how much more effort was need in college until that morning, of course. Effort wasn’t just needed inside of the classroom with homework and studying but also outside of it where we are encouraged to join clubs, get involved and find a job. Had I known the transformation would be so great, I’d have mentally prepared myself properly. It’s easy playing “grown-up” in high school when one doesn’t have to pay expensive tuitions, workout a
...hool and work and life in general. I did not strive to do my best in high school and especially my dual enrollment classes. I was not ever thinking about my future and started not coming to classes. Once I accepted God in my life Junior Summer, all that changed. I realized I was on a negative path and God helped me turn my life around. Senior year is going wonderful so far, my grades are the best they have ever been and I am busy as ever with work, school, church, and volunteer work. I love it this way, I believe staying busy requires me to stay on task and get a lot done, that is the lifestyle I have to take to college. Although that bad patch in high school lowered my grades and performance, making it more difficult to get into college, I am thankful it happened so I could learn from it before heading off to a new chapter in my life, hopefully at Auburn University!
When describing a physical altercation between two adults, the term is assault and battery. Assault on an individual has more than immediate effects; the effects can last a lifetime in severe cases. In all fifty states, it is a crime to hit, strike or use corporal punishment in any deliberate manner towards any person over the age of eighteen. However, this law does not apply to physical force being used on minors. Spanking, whipping, and paddling are among a few common references to this form of punishment. Physically disciplining children has had many names over the years. No matter which term is used, corporal punishment has a negative impact on every party involved. It is a widely used, socially accepted method of discipline. “Approximately 94% of three and four-year old children have been spanked in the past year (Slade & Winssow 1321). Although spanking is a widespread practice, it is becoming more controversial. The negative effects of spanking greatly outweigh the benefits. Spanking is a socially tolerated view promoting abusive patterns, and has a negative psychological impact in teaching children that pain, fear, and confusion promote conformability.
To start, one considerable solution to help with student debt is working and saving. At this point in life, saving money is an easy strategy due to limited responsibilities and bills. Since many students are not yet independent in terms of living expenses, they are “reall...
First of all, grades. Grades are the thing that has everyone, stressed out and overwhelmed. I'm one of those type of people. I always pushed to get A's and B's. Even in my hardest classes like algebra 2 and chemistry that really pushed me. Where I had my moments where I didn't try to push myself to my full potential. But, all in all I can ever ask of myself is that I tried my best to get the best grades possible.
I try to take everything in life day by day and to try and not panic or get overwhelmed. Staying focused can be hard but I am doing everything I can to keep my grades up and stay out of trouble. I have learned that it is best if I stay out of drama and just keep my head in the books. I have made it a habit to be to school on time and try to make the best out of every situation. Nobody can take my knowledge away from me, so I doing all I can to get
After one month of tracking my income, I have learned a little more about my spending habits. I am already aware of most of my spending habits, and where I most often slip up. A little on the background of my spending, I rarely use cash. There are two reasons why I do this; the first reason is so that I am not tempted to spend bits of money here and there on snacks and small things. The other reason is that so I can more effectively track my spending with less effort. I have two checking accounts to keep this balanced since on the statements it does not say what the money is specifically spent on. I use one card on essentials and school needs, and the other account is more of a lifestyle account. Although I have done this financial tracking in the past, I was able to reaffirm that I still have some areas of weakness in my spending.
There are many explanations for what punishment characterises. For Emile Durkheim, punishment was mainly an expression of social solidarity and not a form of crime control. Here, the offender attacks the social moral order by committing a crime and therefore, has to be punished, to show that this moral order still "works". Durkheim's theory suggests that punishment must be visible to everyone, and so expresses the outrage of all members of society against the challenge to their collective values. The form of punishment changes between mechanic (torture, execution) and organic (prison) solidarity because the values of society change but the idea behind punishing, the essence, stays the same - keeping the moral order intact not decreasing crime. Foucault has a different view of the role or function of punishment. For Foucault, punishment signifies political control. His theory compares the age of torture with the age of prison, concluding that the shift from the former to the latter is done due to changes in society and new strategies needed for the dominance of it by the rulers. Punishment for Foucault is a show of power first brutal and direct (torture), then organised and rational (prison). Punishment does not get more lenient because of humanitarian reasons but because the power relations in society change.

Everyone deals with stress at some point in his or her life. Most people deal with it daily. As defined in the book called Principles and Labs for Fitness and Wellness, stress is, “The mental, emotional, and physiological response of the body to any situation that is new, threatening, frightening, or exciting” (Hoeger & Hoeger, 2012). This stress is caused by a stressor, which is also known as “a stress-causing event” (Hoeger & Hoeger, 2012). Stressors can take all different forms, from moving to a new town, having a baby, or even writing a paper (Boyd, Wood, & Wood, 2011). One major stressor in life can be going to college. If not coped with properly, these stressors can leave a person with too much stress that could end up harming them mentally and physically, such as developing an illness (Boyd, Wood, & Wood, 2011). There are several ways to cope with stress. Some healthy ways to cope with stress would be practicing emotion-focused coping, building time-management techniques, and practicing meditation.
In conclusion, the best way to manage your money is to keep a budget and record all your transaction to see where your money is going. Living with a budget isn’t the easiest thing in the world, but it can be a great alternative to worrying about how you are going to pay for your expenses. Budgeting allows you to create a spending plan for your money; it ensures that you will always have money for the things that are important to you. Following a budget will also keep you out of debt. If you don’t balance your budget and spend more than you make, you will have financial problems. Many people don’t realize that they spend more than they earn and slowly sink deeper into debt every year.
Credit companies and banks make it very easy for families to spend money they do not have. For instance, credit cards are commonly accepted in stores, restaurants, and many other establishments. Parents sometimes feel that they need to buy their children everything they want, regardless if the money is not in their wallets. They also live such busy lives, making it hard to cook a meal at home. Parents find it more convenient to go through a drive-thru or to dine out instead because it saves time. On the other hand, they are spending extra money they do not have. Families also like to go on vacations that they cannot afford. Charge vacation trips it all on credit cards. Meanwhile, only able to make the minimum payments on them. They probably do not consider the interest rates that these credit cards have. Another situation is when one of the parents decide to buy a car without having a down payment. Financing cars paying loans with massive interest rates. Sometimes this occurs when they see someone they know buy a brand new car, so they think that they need one too. This is known as competing with the Joneses. Many parents and children want what everyone else around them has. However, the parents may believe they can afford it, but in reality all the overspending adds up an...
I was able to overcome many problems and challenge myself in different aspects. At the very beginning of the year, I was very sensitive and having a bad experience meant a bad life to me. Later on, I started to realize what I am doing in school, and why I am here… I understood that life without ups and downs means you're died.
Achieving any goal requires self-discipline. It involves a conscious awareness of our actions and the ability to overcome some of the bad habits that might be holding us. Instilling self- discipline into our lives is not easy task.
