Physical therapy is an exceptional career choice for anyone. Therapists often only work weekdays, and get paid about seventy to ninety thousand dollars per year. Though therapists make an above average salary, many have become greedy and are seeking more money from patients. Audits have discovered that therapists have unethically been charging patients for treatments they never received and overcharging their bills in an unethical manner. With few exceptions” (Schram 5) Schram states that most of acupuncture is paid by insurance, and that exceptions of paying with cash are scarce. Catherine Page speaks of how insurance could cover acupuncture for one who wants it. In Management in Physical Therapy Practices she states, “The best way to get reluctant insurers to cover alternative therapies is by making a good case that your treatment is medically necessary.” (Page 199) A doctor or physical therapist almost always has to refer or suggest their patient to receive acupuncture. I used to hate medical offices. When I was 6 years old, my family was in a car accident that left my 8 year old sister in the hospital for months, and my back so messed up that I was forced to go to the chiropractor twice a week for a few years after it. There were vivid memories of the feeling of my bones cracking and moving around inside of me that floated through my thoughts every time we took that infamous 20 minute drive to the office.
