I was so excited to be at the beach. I had not been to the beach in almost 3 years and forgot what it was like. I had spent a good two months waiting for this vacation. Then finally, after 2 months of waiting, it was time. August 5, 2017. Once we finally got down to the beach an ear to ear smile instantly blossomed onto my face. I looked up and I saw the green weedy sand dunes to both sides of me. I thought about what kinds of bugs would live in there, if any, and immediately creeped myself out tried to forget the thought as I briskly walked down the roped pathway that led me to the beach. Once I laid out my pink swirly towel I plopped down on it. There I laid perfectly sprawled on the sand, eyes shut, not a care in the world. The sun kissed
The smell of the restaurants faded and the new, refreshing aroma of the sea salt in the air took over. The sun’s warmth on my skin and the constant breeze was a familiar feeling that I loved every single time we came to the beach. I remember the first time we came to the beach. I was only nine years old. The white sand amazed me because it looked like a wavy blanket of snow, but was misleading because it was scorching hot. The water shone green like an emerald, it was content. By this I mean that the waves were weak enough to stand through as they rushed over me. There was no sense of fear of being drug out to sea like a shipwrecked sailor. Knowing all this now I knew exactly how to approach the beach. Wear my sandals as long as I could and lay spread out my towel without hesitation. Then I’d jump in the water to coat myself in a moist protective layer before returning to my now slightly less hot towel. In the water it was a completely different world. While trying to avoid the occasional passing jellyfish, it was an experience of
We walked down into the bustling docks, stinking of long dead fish and seaweed. We walked past the decreped old fishing boats and their owners, all with rotting wooden lobster pots and old rope nets. The huge ship was moared in the harbour, its ancient gangplank rested lightly on the hole filled pier. Mr Cheese, our navigator, stood at the top polishing his peg leg, while Meet-Hook stood behind working on yet another wax painting. Otis and Carla ran up the gangplank and began to load the crates of sugar and cotten from the plantations into the hold.
I jumped in my shiny yellow metallic golf cart and took off to the beach. As soon as I got there I put the golf cart in park and reached in the back seat to grab my elaborately detailed body board and a darkly colored cover so that I could lay on the ground. I started to approach the soothing atmosphere. I was really ecstatic to be in the place that contained most of my joy and peace. As I stroll, I relinquish all the frustrations that I had.
We got there right after the sun’s peak time ended, so around 3pm, and my breath was taken away by it’s beauty. The sand is so soft, it feels like a fuzzy blanket on a cold fall day. When I walked on the beach I could faintly smell the of salt. As I would walk into the water, I could feel my skin tighten as the salt water would touch my skin. Then, as I got out of the water, I could taste the salt lingering on my lips.
I turned off the car and took a deep breath. Looking slowly up into the pink sky, I began to watch the golden sun go to sleep. The beach seemed deserted, quiet, but peaceful. I opened my door and put my feet out on the soft sand. I started taking my shoes off, then my socks. I threw them in the passenger seat, and then shut the door. I looked out over horizon of the lake and started walking towards the still water. With each step I took, I could feel the warm sand crunch between my toes. Then suddenly, a sharp rock, but not sharp enough to break the skin.
We fell silent for awhile listening to the waves come in and out and hearing the chirping of the crickets in the dune grass behind us. As we sat on the beach, my head against his shoulder, he played his guitar. I sang along to the tune, the lyrics flowing out of my mouth. The moon was beautifully shining
Oh, summer! The warmth of the sun as it hits your face, the coconut smell that lies around your skin as you apply sunscreen, the water in the distance as it reverses and forms a wave. A wave so salty it could dry up anything in the blink of an eye. And then it hits you. The reality, not the wave. That those days of swimming and splashing, are far behind. Now all the fun there is left for you is the damaging hours that you spend waiting for the sun to kiss your skin with its golden beauty. All there is left is a bunch of divas laying around in bathing suits as tiny as sea shells, that scream and screech at the sound of seagulls. Welcome to a summer in the Hamptons.
The dull light of the sun somehow manages to kindle my senses in a way I had never seen or felt before. Everything felt like it came to a standstill and the effect of the light made the scene look like one in a painting. The waves break gently into white foam on the black beach. The small crystals in the sand glimmer and twinkle brilliantly against the sunrays. The seagulls ride with the wind and the soft sand cushions my toes.
I had decided to be open minded about this adventure I was being taken on as my weariness depreciated and my mother seemed to grow upset since I had looked like I was not enjoying her company. As we approached the seashore, to my surprise my mood had been uplifted. Smiling was inevitable and my heart was warm with bliss as we slowly walked over the tiny grains of sand, occasionally stopping to examine a unique shell that demanded to be seen. Each shell had different textures, varying from a roughness comparable to sandpaper or smooth like fuzzy peaches and with different shades of grey and white. Only the extraordinary shells would be picked up and placed into the bright red cup we brought.

In the lonely clouds of the atmosphere was a desperate man in a balloon airship, alone was he with his loneliness he went through the world finding scraps to survive the world's end by which he did but at the cost of being alone did he fly.... Pilot woke up to a scattered beam of mellow gold shining through the cracked porthole in his window. Disgruntled he got up and stepped onto the platform that had simply a sidebar outline with two levers and a captain's wheel. He pulled out his telescope and scanned the sea of gold clouds moving at a hastily slow pace and decided to go east for the lacklustering glory of this dead sea. He pulled hard on the wheel jackknifing it to the east from what he could tell.
It had been twenty days straight…twenty days this cargo ship braced the ocean. We were now near the horn of Africa and we had all been fatigued of the tiresome journey. On day 21 the dark clouds threateningly hovered above our heads. A big storm seemed imminent.
The motion of the soft, almost fully deflated rubber boat on the edge of the the sand filled beach. [GR - doesn’t quite make sense. It needs an edit. Add words] The sound of the birds chirping and the waves hammering against the rocks woke me from a deep mesmerising sleep.
Standing on the beach always gives me an odd, specific, and special feeling. It's like being awestruck. I mean actually struck, too. It hits me like a sharp slap on the cheek, taking my breath away. The idea of the seemingly unending vastness envelops my mind.
I use any excuse to walk along the ocean, especially alone and without my phone. The wind blew cold air, but the sun’s warm rays kept my body at a perfect temperature. It was three in the afternoon and I was calm.
