I recently saw the movie Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Being a comic book fan, particularly of DC comics, this movie was clearly a must see for me. When it comes to superhero movies, I believe the plot of the movie should accurately represent the stories told in the comics as best as they can. The same goes for the characters. The comics created these characters and their various stories, so the movies should closely follow the comics the best that they can. I did not feel Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice accurately depicted the plot and characters of the comics the movie was attempting to represent. In the movie, Batman is shown various times killing his enemies without any remorse. In one scene he is even shown killing enemies with an automatic weapon. This completely contradicts what we have learned about the Dark Knight from the comics. In some early comics, yes Batman is shown killing a foe or two, but by the time the actual character of Batman …show more content…
In The Death of Superman, Superman is able to defeat his enemy Doomsday, but he ends up dying in the process. When this comic was released, it was widely popular and received national headlines. In Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Superman encounters the same fate, dying as he defeats Doomsday. While this is exactly what happens in the comic, the movie took an iconic comic book moment and packed it into a ten minute scene. Apparently a two hour and thirty minute movie only had time to show the most popular Superman fight that led to his death for just a few minutes. As a comic book fan, I have been eagerly waiting for this comic book moment to play out on the big screen, and when it finally did, it was over before I even had a chance to blink. You can find a quick overview of The Death of Superman and its popularity at
It has been eight years since the ending of the previous movie, The Dark Knight. At the end of this movie, Batman took the blame for the people killed by Harvey Dent, the district attorney who set out a war against crime. During The Dark Knight, crime had decreased dramatically because of him and Batman. Numerous criminals were placed in prison because of him. Therefore, Batman took the blame for his murders because he understood that a discovery of Harvey Dent’s killings would allow the numerous criminals that he imprisoned to be set free.
The purpose of this paper is to provide the reader with an insight into the Super Hero Series Batman. This crime fighter originally appeared in Detective Comics issue #27 in 1939. It later became a comic book series, a TV series and a movie series. The character Batman is second only to Superman as a Super Hero. Amazingly Batman has no super powers, but he does have a lot of neat crime fighting gadgets. In this paper, we will explore the creation of Batman, his supporting cast of characters both good and bad and the gadgets he used.
The conflict theory in this case discusses the lack of resources that are down to nearly nothing and about how the lower classes are having to constantly compete for them. It shows you how the poor are controlled by the rich. The film “Waiting for Superman” takes a closer look into the public school systems around the United States from the poorest of the poor all the way over to the suburbs. The parents of these students are obviously sending their children to school with the high hopes that they are going to excel academically, but the reality of it is that most of the children that are either born into or somehow end up in a position of poverty end up either dropping out rather than graduating. The upper class will place their children into schools where they are offered quality education. With the way that our nation is growing, I am confident in being able to say that the gap will only expand and the poor will continue to suffer in the educational department as well as others. While the lower class students in public school are failing and dropping out, the upper class students are too busy bettering their future. Our country states that “every child has a dream”, and that “no child will be left behind”. How true is that claim exactly? Yes, it is true that every child has a dream, but how many children are being left behind because they are stuck in poverty? There was one scene in the movie where the charter schools had to draw numbers just to give a child a chance at a better education. That is highly disturbing that a child has to suffer through something as humiliating as that. Our public system does not encourage academic growth, it hampers it. Over the years a lot of money has been put into trying to fix our public schoo...
Carl Jung called archetypes the ancient patterns of personality, which are constant throughout and help us to know characters’ purpose in the story. The dark knight is a movie, which is very related to Jungian Archetypes. Protagonist is Bruce Wayne and his actual hero role, Batman and he fights crime to save his city from chaos, which is the joker’s (the shadow) overall plan and motive. Batman has always a wise old man by his side Alfred Pennyworth as his mentor and Batman is in love with Rachel Dawes (animus). These characters all have different developed parts of their mind as we see from their actions.
middle of paper ... ... If asked who you better relate to Batman or Superman, which would you choose? Works Cited Ebert, Roger. A.
Besides of Batman almost killing the joker, Batman hold himself because of his moral judgment, the Joker kill himself on purpose to frame the Batman to cause the media goes against him and his ideological position. Because Batman as the myth or the hero, it keeps Batman in a ubermensch, position were what he believes to be morally accepted or not, directing his morality the reference, although the dark nights use violence, weapons, threats against others he keeps a certain level of morality or decision of what is more important putting justice to its hands. The Dark Knight Returns, Batman is seeking information from a thief. In the middle of his “interrogation,” Batman throws him to a window. The man sits in large piece of glass stuck in
Critics also praised the visuals and the characters, while finding shortcomings in the overall tone and portrayal of Superman’s character. Many critics agree that Snyder was successful with the visu...
Many do not realize the importance of the relationship, and had gotten quite annoyed of Batman. People called him weak, he isn’t a real superhero because he has no power, just wealth, and is self-centered. People had thought that Batman was weak because he is incapable of killing the Joker, or killing anyone in that matter. Batman operates under this ‘no-kill’ codes due to many reasons. First, given that his parents were murdered when he was a child, that led him to believe that he didn’t want that bloodshed on his hand. Second, Batman believes that justice is above all, because he believes himself as justice, therefore, he believes that he is above killing his enemies. This is important because this proves that Batman is more relatable to his fans. He isn’t a god, with superpower, rather he is an ordinary guy, with a traumatizing past, just trying to make the world a better place. From Batman, himself, to his enemies and his relationship with the Joker, the choices he had to make to either live by his code or to protect his citizens, reflects that he is very relatable to his fans. The important thing is the hidden relationship between Batman and the Joker, and most often than not, people tend to neglect that. If the Joker were to get killed off the show, Batman will not be the same, neither will the whole
In the name of justice, Batman should kill the Joker. The Joker has already proven that he is unworthy of living in society. Time and time again, the Joker has committed cold-blooded, psychopathic murder without reason or remorse. In essence, his only purpose in life is to be a “force of chaos & destruction”. One might argue that the Joker can be jailed, or the government can deal with him, but this has already proven to be an unpractical solution. Batman repeatedly throws the Joker in jail for his murders, and the Joker almost immediately escapes and kills more people. Despite his knowledge of the aforementioned problem, Batman refuses to kill the Joker. Therefore, Batman is to some extent responsible for the deaths of all the innocent people killed by the Joker.
Another thing I want to bring into focus is the title of this documentary, which in a certain light is cynical. At the beginning Geoffrey mentions that the saddest day of his life was in 4th grade when his mother told him that superman didn’t exist. He cried because he realized that there was no one that could save us from the poverty we had all been born into. We all wait for superman because it seems that a task this great cannot be achieved by the likes of
The Ghost of Superman Kids had stars in their eyes when they talked about their hero Superman. A DC comic superhero who was incredibly strong and to top it all off he was as fast as the wind and he could fly. However this was just what they could get from the pages of a comic book. Then in 1952 came the TV series “The Adventures of Superman” putting their hero on the screen. The actor playing Superman was rightly chosen since he looked strong and muscular and was a handsome figure.
Any fan of Batman knows that “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight” are two of the best Batman films made in the seventy-eight years that Batman has been around. The plots really make you look deep in yourself and show the true and more real sides of the characters of the Batman world. Each movie shows the evolution of Batman and shows only a few of the many crazy and intense adventures of this mysterious hero. These two movies are the first two in the dark knight trilogy, created by the amazing Christopher Nolan. These movies were heavily praised for their astounding realism to the real world, and its pros and cons. But they were also extremely liked for their possibility for

It looks like Henry Cavill’s Kal-El simply cannot get a break despite his dramatic death in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Incredible Hulk comic book writer Peter David has just weighed in on Cavill’s portrayal of the Kryptonian, stating that it was difficult to relate to someone who “acts like a god!” David shared his review on Batman v Superman on his website, where he dissected Cavill’s performance in the film. “Ninety percent of the time that Cavill is on screen, he’s in Superman mode, even when he’s Clark,” David wrote, adding that the Man of Steel’s superiority over mankind is shown throughout the film.
However, this popularity has fluctuated throughout history. In the past few decades, demand for comics in the print media had been falling, in part due to the successes of other children 's media, such as cartoons. “Our biggest fear was that that audience was going to get to a point where we weren 't able to build it up again,” says Dan DiDio, co-publisher of DC Comics, “and a lot of what we do would be branded lost because there was nobody out there reading it" (Martin 14). Luckily, comic creators realized that the stories were perfect for screen adaptations: "they 're full of spectacle [and] adventure with an emotional arc for the hero. That 's what movies have always been about” (Humphries). The promise of lucrative merchandise sales and cross-promotion undoubtedly encouraged production, as well. Comic books were first adapted for television in the 40s and 50s, and met with huge success. Thus, superhero television programs set the stage for the inevitable point when comics took to the big screen with the first Superman movie in 1978 (Humphries). This cinematic moment ushered in a tricking of other superhero feature films, which eventually became the flood of superhero films that is taking place in the 21st
