Barbara Kruger is a conceptual, feminist artist. Barbara Kruger's graphic work mostly consists of black and white photographs with captions in red with a white font. The phrases Kruger uses usually make a bold statement and sometimes uses pronouns, for example, you, I, your/you’re, we and they. The work is an 18 by 24-inch poster, photographed and edited in Photoshop. I chose this medium because it closely resembles the same style Kruger does with her works of art. For the photo, I took a photo of myself with one side of my face normal and the other side cut and bruised up, as if I was abused. In Photoshop, I edited the photo so I would look beaten, while not looking I beautified the photo. After I added two rectangles to the side and three in the middle with the words “YOUR LOVE IS MY PAIN”. I chose these words because I thought it showed a great example of domestic violence. I see this and think of how a person who abuses their partner and usually when they stop, they’ll say they are sorry, they didn’t mean to, it’s only because they love them, and they make them do it. Also, victim’s standpoint, they are too afraid to leave their partner, either because she’ll never find anyone else, the man will beat her more, they love their partner and think they’ll stop one day, or they think they deserve what their partner does to
