Barbara Jordan was a truly unique woman, seasoned politician, and a friendly and gregarious woman that spent her lively hood helping Texas communities. Barbara proved the point that it only takes one person to be a voice for the people, even against the most powerful issues she faced. She was not only influential but also inspiring to most people that felt lucky to know her, or even the ones who had simply just heard of her all of her great achievements. Barbara Jordan fought and eventually prospered against racial barriers and even over the own troubles she faced having a physical disability. Which was, "We the people is a very eloquent beginning, but when the document was completed on the 17th of September in 1787, I was not included in that we the people" Barbara Jordan worked hard to be successful in her career so that herself, as well as ALL minority members, could be a part of "we the people." And being blessed with all her wonderful skills and her talent as a fabulous public speaker and hard earned seat in the Senate, Barbara worked to give equality to at the time, a nation where minority members weren’t always given the honest, fair chance they deserved. A former student of Barbara, commented about what a hero Jordan was by saying that "she made it possible to think that you could make a difference”. Through her tough trials against the odds, Barbara displayed that a strong willed women with ambition could accomplish her goals no matter what. Her success in her career set an example to many minorities that they too, could have a good job, not limited to how far they could grow or climb up that latter.
