Guatemala’s culture is a unique product of Native American ways and a strong Spanish colonial heritage. About half of Guatemala’s population is mestizo (known in Guatemala as ladino), people of mixed European and indigenous ancestry. Ladino culture is dominant in urban areas, and is heavily influenced by European and North American trends. Unlike many Latin American countries, Guatemala still has a large indigenous population, the Maya, which has retained a distinct identity. Deeply rooted in the rural highlands of Guatemala, many indigenous people speak a Mayan language, follow traditional religious and village customs, and continue a rich tradition in textiles and other crafts. The two cultures have made Guatemala a complex society that is deeply divided between rich and poor. This division has produced much of the tension and violence that have marked Guatemala’s history (Guatemalan Culture and History).
On December 15, 1791, the Bill of Rights was ratified effective by Congress. These first ten amendments to the Constitution of the United States of America promised the states certain rights and freedoms which could not be infringed by the government. After all, the founding fathers knew from experience that men in their weakness were often tempted by power. They had become all too familiar with this when under the control of King George in England. Therefore, in order to protect the future people of their beautiful country, they promised certain liberties which could not be taken away. Every single one of these freedoms is important for the United States of America. However, the second amendment is especially important to our nation because it allows the people to protect their freedom and defend themselves and the common good against an overreaching government.

African American writers regularly address racial personality—from books about going to expositions on Black Power—from journalists as differed as W.E.B. DuBois, Zora Neale Hurston, and Toni Morrison. Be that as it may, these authors are once in a while, studying on how they build a racial personality for themselves and their characters. Dark writings can possibly uncover the variables that make racial personality and clear up how the procedure of consideration and prohibition work inside the African American group. Building up a strategy for deciphering how a racial character is tended to in African American writer 's are critical incomprehension the implicit rejection in the dark group. The answers (or inquiries) that rise up out of this
Throughout the past decade or so the Second Amendment rights issues have arisen with the demand of individuals rights to keep and bear arms. The constitution states the “a well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” In the court case upheld in the Supreme Court Columbia vs. Heller, the ongoing debate of this interpretation of the Second Amendment. Heller, a special officer in Washington D.C., was denied the right to being able to register a handgun to keep at home. This case was taken up to the Supreme Court due to Heller’s argument stating that the government of the nation’s capital must obey the Constitution and the Bill of Rights because these texts are the supreme law of the land. Heller’s belief of injunction was certain, “at least one of the founding fathers said that there will be times when the State or Federal Government will overstep its bounds and will need to be put back into its place.” There has not been any lower court cases or any true precedent case besides Columbia vs. Heller for Drake vs. Jerejian. Drake vs. Jerejian seeks an end to the unjustified denial of carry permits by the State of New Jersey; and the unreasonable restriction for concealed carry permits citing “justifiable need” or “urgent necessity” for the issuance of a permit. Constitutional rights are protected under the law and may not be denied by government officials because of perceived “need” or “necessity.” The Second Amendment should not only guarantee this right to possess firearms to members of militia but also to those who may grant this privilege, as well that it’s a right in our constitution. An individual’s Second Amendment right should se...
Shakespeare wrote a lot of plays and many of them were performed at The Globe Theatre. The play Hamlet was influenced by the death of Shakespeare’s son Hamnet. Neither John nor Mary Shakespeare was able to read or write. Shakespeare wrote many plays called King Henry, in honor of Queen Elizabeth’s father King Henry VIII. One of the most important elements of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream is the contrast that is established between the real world and a world inhabited by fairies and other magical beings and forces.
In 2008, the Supreme Court decided in the case of, District of Columbia v. Heller that the Second Amendment protects a civilian’s right to keep a handgun in his home for the reason of self-defense. In Chicago the case of McDonald v. Chicago the court decided the due process clause of the 14th Amendment limits the power of the city of Chicago to ban the possession of handguns by private citizens. In my opinion both decisions misinterpreted the amendment completely.
Venezuela was one of the richest countries that emerged from the collapse of Gran Colombia in 1830 (the others being Colombia and Ecuador). For most of the first half of the 20th century, Venezuela was ruled by generally benevolent military strongmen, who promoted the oil industry and allowed for some social reforms. Democratically elected governments have held sway since 1959. Current concerns include: a polarized political environment, a politicized military, drug-related violence along the Colombian border, increasing internal drug consumption, overdependence on the petroleum industry with its price fluctuations, and irresponsible mining operations that are endangering the rain forest and indigenous peoples.
The case of Columbia v. Heller, is a good example of how an interpretation of the 2nd Amendment can be misconstrued. Heller came...
Gun bans in Chicago and Oak Park in Illinois called for multiple suits being called claiming that this took away their Second Amendment right. The conclusion was decided that the Fourteenth Amendment makes the right to keep and bear arms relevant to the individual states (“Oyez”). Many states and cities do have gun laws, but those normally involve open carrying or the process of actually legally buying a gun. These previously stated laws are perfectly legal, but the laws involved in the McDonald v Chicago case were not constitutional. Telling someone they can not openly carry a gun in public and telling someone they cannot have a gun in their own private home are two completely different issues on the opposite sides of the
