The Jewish revolt led by
Bar Kochba in 132 AD was not the work of a single if a single radical revolutionary.
It was the inevitable result of years of promises not kept to the Jews, and laws which suppressed the basis of Jews as a nation.
To understand the reason for Bar Kochba’s Revolt one must go back many years even before the war. Prior to Hadrian, an emperor by the name of Trajan was the ruler of the Roman empire.
Due to the rebellion of the Jews in the Diaspora to the east and the west of them, Trajan, in order to keep the Jews in Palestine from rebelling he had to send a great general to be governor of the Jews in Palestine, a general who was well with the harshness in which he treated people. This general’s name was Tineius Rufus, he was the general that put down the uprising of the
Jews in Parthia. Because of Rufus’ reputation of his severity to the Jews, he uprooted any thought of the Jews in Palestine to rebel against Rome at that time. The Jews did not want to rebel anyway. Trajan had promised the Jews that he would rebuild the asenv ,hc, the Jews assumed this also meant to rebuild
Jerusalem.
The Pagans in Palestine did not want the asenv ,hc to be rebuilt, they thought that if it was rebuilt it would be the rebirth of the Jewish nation.
Also, in addition, Trajan, the Emperor who made this promise died and was succeeded by Hadrian. The Jews were unsure if Hadrian would keep the promise that Trajan once made. Hadrian wanted to go to Jerusalem to see what he was rebuilding before he started the construction. When Hadrian got there he was awed by the sight of a once desolate and fruitful city in ruins. He immediately wanted to start the reconstruction. However later the Jews were surprised and disappointed to discover that Hadrian wanted to rebuild Jerusalem not as a city for the Jews to restart in, but as a Pagan city sanctified to the Pagan
G-d Jupiter. He was going to put an alter where the Jews asenv ,hc once stood.
Hadrian was to be the high priest. What once was called Jerusalem would now be called Aelia Capitolina.
This was a mockery to the Jews. The Jews waited sixty years from the destruction of the Second asenv ,hc for Rome to restore it to them. The Jews held themselves back from Rebelling with their neighboring
Jews in Diaspora because they held onto, and believed that Trajan’s promise
The person that was chosen to lead the rebellion was Daniel Shays. Shays, born in Hopkinton Massachusetts, grew up as a farmer before he fought for his country in the War for Independence. During the War he fought in such key battles as the Battle of Lexington, Bunker Hill and Saratoga.
“I intend, therefore, to build a temple for the Name of the Lord my God, as the Lord told my father David, when he said, ‘Your son whom I will put on the throne in your place will build the temple for my Name,” (1 Kings 5:5 NIV). After the death of David, around 970 BCE, his son Solomon wanted to expand Jerusalem, the religious capital of the world (Freedman 355). David was dearly loved by God, so much so that God described David as “a man after My own heart.” However, God would not allow David to build Him a Temple because David was a man of war. God had told David that when Solomon became King, he would build a great Temple in the name of the Lord. Also referred to as the Jerusalem Temple and the First Temple, Solomon’s Temple was located on Mount Zion, just north of the city of David (Parrot 498). The rectangular Temple was roughly 165 feet by 84.5 feet in dimensions (Freedman 355). The construction of the Temple dates back to around 10th Century BCE and took about thirty years to complete. Due to the delivering of the Ark of ...

The Romans captured people from the demonstration that they suspected of having ties with the terrorists Bannus and Barabbas. While being interrogated about the demonstration, Andreas is given a choice, to both further prosecution and imprisonment or to gather information for the Romans about rising movements that might take over the land. Black mail and Decision • Andreas had been locked up in a cell for what it seemed like years but he was counting the days and by the third week he was dragged out to confront Pontius Pilate, the perfect of Judea and Samaria (12). This is when Pilate gave him the choice to either be persecuted or gather information about certain religious movements that would be considered a threat to the country. Andreas shouts, “That’s blackmail
Every time we analyze and elaborate about a controversial issue is imperative that we develop an historic perspective. Debates about the ethics and legality of euthanasia and physician assisted suicide date from ancient Rome and Greek culture. Several cultures in ancient times practiced and support euthanasia. Greek culture especially, for them, beauty and autonomy were really important. They believe that if a person is no longer capable to take care of himself and is suffering with a terminal disease they should be allowed to die peacefully and with dignity.
...he people turning their backs on God, the Temple was destroyed and the Israelites were again taken captive.
His exposure to the criminal acts of his oppressors changed his whole personality. All he cared about was protecting the other Jews from experiencing the same things he did.
Suicide and assisted suicide is often viewed as the most logical choice when faced with these circumstances. As far back as the 16th Century, people have been arguing for the terminally ill to be aided in ending life by physicians who should not be held morally or legally to blame for assisting the individual. The beginning of the 21rst Century saw many bills supporting the use of euthanasia proposed in many Western legislatures with little to no success. The fact is that everyone is going to die, the only question that remains to be answered is when, how, and under what conditions. Supporters of euthanasia state that everyone should have the same degree of control in choosing the circumstances surrounding their death as they do in choosing the manner in which they live” (Economist.com, 1997) I agree with this assertion, everyone should be able to choose their own
For us to have a firm grasp of the first two points, we must look at the events that happened that made a need to rebuild the temple and the wall. In the year 586 B.C., the Babylonians conquered Judah. Jerusalem was reduced to ruins. The Jews were carried away into captivity. A promised few were permitted to linger behind to live in these ruins. This remnant, throughout the following decades began to intermarry with non-Jews (including some of the Assyrians who had fled the destruction of their own nation). This racial integration produced the group known as the Samaritans.
Three million bullying incidents are reported each year in the U.S. and over 160,000 kids skip school each day because they are scared of being bullied (Havenrich). Suicide is the third leading cause of death for 15 to 24 year olds and sixth leading cause of death for 5 to 14 year olds ("Bullying"). Bullying has been going on for decades (Garby), and goes unnoticed by many everyday. One out of every four school students encounters taunting, teasing, shoving, and called names daily by school bullies (Havenrich). Bullying happens on the playground, during class, and to and from school (Wright). Bullying has become a big issue and some states are making laws to stop bullying (Garby). It damages the people being bullied, effects the bully himself, and sometimes the people that did not take part in the bullying.
It is the authors’ intention to argue that some forms of euthanasia, to be exact, passive nonvoluntary and in exceptionally rare cases indirect euthanasia are morally permissible. However it must be noted that due to the limit of words and more importantly the authors’ lack of experience surrounding euthanasia, the claim of permissibility reflects that of the authors’ recent course readings and my emergent experience thereof. In addition to this it must also be noted that euthanasia cannot be evaluated exclusively. That euthanasia unquestionably is connected with the very questions that endeavor to understand life and death. My arguments descend from articles written by authors such as; Rachel’s, Steinbock, Beauchamp and Foot.
The book of Nehemiah was originally the second section of the book of Ezra. “Closely allied to the Book of Ezra, it was attached to it in the old Jewish reckoning.” In this book of the Bible, the book of Nehemiah illustrates Jerusalem’s final stage of reconstruction during the 5th century B.C. Babylonian exile period. Although, Nehemiah might have not been a man with much power, he was in fact a man of ability, courage, and action. God’s purpose for Nehemiah was to prepare him to accomplish a forceful task within the entire Bible. Nehemiah had a job and responsibility, which was to help rebuild and reestablish the walls of Jerusalem.
Euthanasia started around the sixteenth century. In historical terms the issue of euthanasia has been around for as long as the history of medicine. Certainly in ancient times it was quite common for doctors to kill their patients with various poisonous preparations and this posed enormous problems with regard to medical practice (ProCon ). Historically it would appear that the issue of euthanasia did not become an issue of serious note again until relatively modern times when two Germans in 1920 published a book called "The Release of the Destruction of Life Devoid of Value." The authors were Dr. Karl Binding. The arguments that they used are just the same as those used today, namely, that of compassion. They said it was barbarous that a person has to die from his pain; that it is permissible to shorten the act of dying and that people have a right to death with dignity(). Euthanasia mainly occurs and occurred in North America, Europe, and Australia.
Euthanasia was first recorded in Greek and Roman times. The word euthanasia originates from the two Greek words “eu”, meaning good, or easy
