How does literature inspire us to achieve our definition of success? Success means that state of accomplishing our goals and meeting the set of expectations fulfilling an intended intention. Literature motivates us to achieve our success by believing in ourselves. A large portion of our lives is spent pursuing success. In the novel White Tiger, Balram undergoes a transformative journey to build his own identity. From the beginning, Balram prides about himself on being self-entrepreneur. He transforms from being a tea worker in the darkness being a self-entrepreneur in light. In Station Eleven, the author simply describes the novel that how art makes us human. This is one of the major themes that I identified when I read through the novel. The quote that I chose from this novel which is correlated to my inquiry topic how people are surviving in many adversities in their life “because their survival is insufficient” ( Mandel 58). This quote explains that how people surviving in many difficulties; face many challenges and overcome the obstacles of it. But there are some people, especially students who are born in poor families are very smart and become successful in their life because if you guess what would their main goals be? Their main goal is to put their parents in better position by doing hard work on studies and become successful like how Balram did to his parents when he was so poor from lower caste which means he was living in many difficulties; faced many challenges in his life and become successful entrepreneur. It could be an influence of technologies provoke people to be successful.I am familiar with the Internet that has been a part of our society who are used by people for their daily activities. In Nicholas Carr’s essay “Does the internet make you dumber?”, he highlights that “the internet causes distractions and leads to lack of focus turning us into scattered superficial thinkers”. Furthermore, he says that “People who watch multimedia presentation remember less than those who take information in focused manner, and people who continually distracted by emails, alerts, and other messages understand less than those who are able to concentrate”. He highlights that using the internet distracts many people who are much distracted by inner sources of the internet which literally describes it affects the success of the people as well as lead to bad directions. In this case, I refute his opinion because Bill Gates that he relates to these technologies. How Bill gates inspired me that I am willing to become as a Computer engineer?.
