The Atomic Bomb: Should we have dropped it? Did we make the right choice? Should we have dropped the Atomic Bomb? This is a question that many have asked over the years. At what cost did we drop the bomb? Personally, I don't think we should have dropped the bomb. 140,000 Japanese people were killed. Family members, animals, coworkers, friends, classmates were all killed because of the decision of their government and ours. One of the survivors, Yasujiro Tanaka, shares about some of the effects that the bomb had on his family, “More than a decade after the bombing, my mother began to notice glass shards growing out of her skin – debris from the day of the bombing, presumably.” Another quote is from his sister. She struggles with muscle cramps and kidney issues, causing her to have dialysis 3 times a week to this day, all of which are effects from the bombing. “‘What did I do to the Americans?’ she would often say, ‘Why did they do this to me?” Because of our government's choice to bomb Japan lots of innocent people were killed. …show more content…

A survivor, Yoshiro Yamawaki states “I was 11 years old when the bomb was dropped, 2km from where I lived. In recent years, I have been diagnosed with stomach cancer, and underwent surgery in 2008 and 2010. The atomic bomb has also implicated our children and grandchildren.'' He later talks about how atomic bombs should be removed from the earth. He also shares ”I have resigned to the fact that nuclear weapons will not be abolished during the lifetime of us first generation hibakusha survivors.
