Being able to communicate with coaches, health professionals and other people in your team is crucial to becoming a top athlete. For me, it is most important that I communicate openly with my with my coaches and other team members of my running group to ensure that. Being a younger athlete it is vital for me to communicate clearly with my coach in regards how I am adapting to my training load; as studies have shown that poor communication was the leading factor which contributed to burnout in young athletes (Athlete Assessment, 2015). Communication is also vital when my coach goes interstate or overseas coaching; as he was when I was competing at the Australian Junior Cross Country Championship.
