The article “At the Holocaust Museum” provides information about the Holocaust through descriptions of the exhibits in the museum. The Holocaust was a horrible event that more than six million Jews were killed. Objectivity is the use of facts and true points in a text. While subjectivity is the use of opinions and point of views in a text. Some texts can have an equal amount of objectivity and subjectivity whether the text is fiction or nonfiction. Other non-fiction texts only include objectivity, while some fiction texts include both or just subjectivity. The article “At the Holocaust Museum” is a mostly objective text.

The first example in the article that shows objectivity is, “You get the feeling that you're trapped, that something bad is about to happen.” The author is stating his opinion about what he felt when he was in the elevator, about how he felt that something bad was about to happen. The author uses emotion and feeling to show that he feels trapped and unsure of the next event, and how he believes other people may feel similarly to him. Another quote, “They cautiously enter the car, touching the scratches on the bare wooden walls, imagining the terror of being locked inside”, shows the perspective of the author. The author uses tone to show how the inside of the car looks and how he thinks the children enter the car. The author infers how the children enter the car and in his opinion they enter cautiously and imagining the terror of having to be locked inside. As the author’s opinion and point of view, this statement is considered to be subjective. Finally, the last example that shows subjectivity is, “But the most powerful effect is created by viewing the museum's exhibits.” This statement is presented in a subjective way because of the author’s opinion or bias to explain that the museum’s exhibits gave a very powerful effect. The author shows the experiences of many of the people who visited the museum, however for him, the most powerful effect created was the exhibits in the museum, this could be different from someone else who visited the Holocaust Museum.
