Astral Projection Research Paper
Throughout history, people have been experiencing astral projection. Commonly called out-of-body experiences (OBEs), these are events in which one's consciousness actually seems to be separate from the physical body. These are often described by people who have near-death experiences(NDEs). Until recently, they were kept secret by the people who experienced them for fear of being deemed insane by society. However, there were those few who pursued this experience with an open, yet sometimes fearful, mind. These people expanded their minds to become more open and peaceful. More people than ever are engaging in astral projection, and finding that it can change the overview of life and expand the mind.
The concept of astral projection is far from a new one. The idea that the soul may be able to detach itself from the physical body at the time of death is the backbone of most religions. For people who accept that concept, it should not be too great a leap to speculate that the human spirit might also be able to leave the body temporarily to make short trips on its own while the body is alive. Still, to people who have never had this experience, the idea of astral projection is a strange one (Duncan 14).
Most OBEs have common features. For instance, the subjects often see their own physical body during the experience, like any other object in the room. They usually report having "ghostly" bodies that can pass through solid objects during the experience. Sometimes others even see their ghostly bodies! They also report floating or flying, and often report seeing places or events that were out of eyesight. Simply put, an OBE is an experience in which the mind may be consciously apart from your ...

...ot apt to take on such a feat, but to do so seems a healthy expansion of determination and a deeper understanding of life. There are wide varieties of techniques for projecting and methods of conquering fear. It is comforting to know that others are engaging in this activity. It seems society is opening to new horizons, and new planes.

According to Albert Hoffman’s experience written in his journal, Albert Hoffman wrote: “…Beginning dizziness, feeling of anxiety, visual distortions, symptoms of paralysis, desire to laugh…. In spite of my delirious, bewildered condition, I had brief periods of clear and effective thinking… My surroundings had now transformed themselves in more terrifying ways. Everything in the room spun around, and the familiar objects and pieces of furniture assumed grotesque, threatening forms. They were in continuous motion, animated, as if driven by an inner restlessness….” (Hoffman, 1943)
The balance between fear and foresight is a necessary component for an individual to maintain a healthy lifestyle, an imbalance of these components can potentially put people in difficult situations as it relates to their survival. Fear can be a humbling experience when it is not balanced with foresight, the nuances of that particular experience instills a subconscious thought in an individual that resonates with fear, in terms of people realizing their mistakes and making the necessary adjustments in life.

If death is really real, based upon the animistic quality of our five physical senses, then how do we know that we are truly alive and breathing, not in a dream? It has been proposed that people aware the existence of surroundings majorly rely on their five senses, which may cause illusions. The ethereal, yet grounded, theory of existentialism provides the landscape for a more positively identified pathway which reaches across the separation exists among humans.
The video Round Trip, The Near Death Experience is an interesting and informative documentary. Five people were interviewed about their near death experience. Catherine was sick for several years; John almost drown from scuba diving, Mary had complications during childbirth, Alena was in an accident and Allan’s heart flutter during surgery. These five people near dead experience were similar. It is remarkable to hear them speak about their experience and how they are not afraid of death. The near death experience changed their lives. Catherine stated that she sees the future, she will know about something before it happens; also her religious structure became stronger. They all saw a bright light and experience a divine feeling and the power

There may also be strong physical effects, including respiratory pressure, muscle tension (especially face and neck muscles), and queasiness or possible nausea… After this the state of altered consciousness begins to manifest itself…..among the possible occurences are feelings of inner tranquility, oneness with life, heightened awareness, and rapid thought flow…these effects will deepen and become more visual. Underlying each of these claims is the theme of the unification of body and mind into a state of consciousness which greatly facilitates clarity and order in one's awareness. Through the deep periods of rest achieved during levels of transcendental consciousness, t...
This article discusses the idea of death being reversible and what scientists are learning about the gray zone between life and death. Research and experiments are being completed to seek out explanations for near death experiences, how is it happening, why is it happening to only some people in similar instances, and what is it that we can do to reproduce this effect?
“Too black for the white kids, too white for the black kids.” “Where do I fit in?” These are common question one may ask himself if he is struggling with double consciousness. Many people struggle with double consciousness every day without even realizing the effects it has on themselves or even the people around them. Double consciousness was discovered in 1903 by W.E.B. Du Bois which he referenced the internal conflict experienced by subordinated groups in an oppressive society. He relayed his message in his writing “The Souls of Black Folk”. Like stated before, double consciousness has many different effects on a person such as them trying to fit in, them having to feel like they have to pick a side (black side or white side), or eventually losing himself.

People practice Astral Projection for a variety of reasons like entertainment or for medication. Some of them use it to be cured from some psychological problems. Other people try it to strengthen their relationship between them and God. There is an opportunity to meet with relatives who have already died (http://uk.Iacworld.org). Other people practice it to reduce the unnecessary distractions and to increase their ability to focus on the important things. In other words, it teaches the art of focus. Practicing Astral Projection can also reduce the feelings of being dead. It also changes many thoughts that people have about traveling and existing in other places. It also provided the people who practice it with more information about the potential of their minds. For example, what things they are able to do as they know that they are more than a physical

Life after death: a mystery to most, but unsolved to all. Scientists and ghost hunters dedicate years and years of their lives searching for proof of the dead still roaming earth. Some believe the presence of some dead linger, while others believe spirits haunt. What I believe to be true is the existence of ghosts and their link to their former life on earth; my belief can be confirmed by the abundance of video and picture proof, eye-witness accounts, cultures, and numerous belief systems. Oxford Dictionary defines ghosts as an apparition of a dead person that is believed to appear or become manifest to the living.
