A dark shadow crept through the dark house, drawers slid open, valuables were softly removed. Suddenly the lights switched on, the mechanical noise of a 12 gauge cocking splits the silence. This is a criminal’s worst nightmare, not the police, but an angry victim armed with a gun. Our country should avoid gun control for many reasons including; the constitution states in several places that honest citizens should have ready access to firearms, disarming citizens leaves them defenseless, criminals will still get guns illegally, and finally that people, not guns, kill people. Gun control violates citizens’ constitutional rights, the constitution states that access to guns is a basic right. For instance, in the Bill of Rights it states that gun rights can’t be infringed, meaning taken away. Bill of Rights 2nd amendment: “… the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” As …show more content…

If a homeowner hears a gunshot or a scream from his or her neighbor’s house what would he or she do? Well the homeowner would hopefully grab a gun and run to investigate. This is an example of the first line of defense, prevention, this is the common defense. The preamble states that the government should “Provide for the common defense.” American citizens would be an easy target; if a government were to go corrupt, our or some other one. We could end up like Syria, its own government attacking its citizens. “(CNN) — These methods of warfare are so grotesque, they're banned by international law. Airstrikes on civilian hospitals. Barrel bombs that kill and maim indiscriminately. Chemical attacks that suffocate children with their eyes still open. But these are the threats Syrian civilians face every day.
