Have you ever walked into a pet shop, seen the puppies and started begging your parents for one, not thinking about where the puppy came from, not thinking how much that doggie in the window is really worth? Many people fall into the trap of buying puppies that have come from puppy farms, terrible places where dogs are mistreated and confined, left to suffer, in some cases for their entire lives, all in the name of making money.

The buildings housing these horrific establishments vary from industrial sized sheds to tin kennels in rows. But they all have the same thing in common, puppies everywhere, in cement cells they eat, sleep and even go to the toilet. Mothers are made to give birth straight on to a wire floor. Dogs are given no or very little veterinary care and often puppies die because of malnourishment, female breeders are forced into pregnancy over and over again until they become too weak and are killed and replaced. The breeders usually only reach the age of 5 and very rarely do the owners of the puppy farm try to rehouse the female. …show more content…
