A penny one of the most useless objects in modern society this brown object causes more problems than solutions. It would be a smarter idea to purchase something with a rock rather than with a penny. This coin which has been in circulation for awhile and has lost its purchasing power, their is absolutely nothing that can possibly be bought with one penny. One may say that the penny only has value in numbers which is true, but in reality no one likes the person that takes out his jar of pennies at the cash register to pay for his items. The penny is no longer a necessity and terminating it would not hurt anyone, so by keeping it we create a hassle that not worth having.
Pennies are not worth wasting your time on and taxpayers a paying a cost that is not worth the hassle. Taxpayers lost 60 million dollars on the distribution and production of pennies in 2011,these losses were obviously known the mint reporting losses totaling 47.2 million dollars between 2009 and 2010. They state that if the penny is eliminated then charities will have no real simple way to raise money. This statement is not a good one charities have multiple ways that it could raise money efficiently. If them relying on a one cent coin to keep their foundations alive is necessary ,then they probably need to find some alternatives. Also if the the penny is eliminated we don't have phase it out entirely. They could still hold their value for a span that is seen as fit or until their is to few in circulation. This allows charities to continue their fundraisers and allows them to find alternatives for raising money. The span of time until the penny is finally a unacceptable form of payment will be unknown ,but the span in between will prove acceptable for users of the penny to figure their stuff
