First off, hello, and thank you for taking the time to read this. The number one thing when doing anything, is safety; and I could not stress that any much more when it comes to the cosplay community, or any community, but in this case, the cosplay community. Coming from a semi-experienced and "jaded" cosplayer, I have definitely had my share of having to take extra caution,watching myself, and my friends/ acquaintances I truly care for- vice versa. What I want to project in this, is being safe and cautious when it comes to photographers. Of course, not all photographers act and portray themselves the same way as other photographers. As I’m sure your parents, friends, or other say or advise you, is to always be careful of who(m) you meet on the internet. Coming from one with experience, there’s always someone who doesn’t seem to be a certain way in person as they would on the internet. With internet and cosplay, people always feel a sense of freedom, or a sense of being able someone they aren’t or feel as though they can’t be in person. Have someone go with you, or have your friend act as a relative, or a spy (and when I mean a friend, I mean someone YOU know and are confident that they would have your back). This may sound silly, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. DON’T EVER meet the person you’re meeting somewhere desolate. Make it in a public place, somewhere where there is a decent amount of people. As a cosplayer, of course, you would want to get photos taken by photographers of your cosplays.
