For many years, women hasn’t be treated with the same respect as a man receives. A women especially doesn’t get treated equally in the workplace. If a woman and a man work at the same job and has the same educational background, the man would still get paid more than the women. You maybe asking, why the difference? Women on average are losing $10,086 in pay each year because of the pay gap. Because of the pay gap women are at a higher risk of poverty and less money for retirement. Most women enter soft careers such as education, while boys enter careers as math and science related fields, a kindergarten teacher will never earn as much as a financier. Compared to men, women earn better grades than men in school, but the gap isn’t because of academic performances. Women’s earning slip 4% for each child while Men earned increase when they have children. In 2012, 10.4 millions Moms stayed at home, while two million Dads stated at home. A Women who earns $44,000 per year and decides to take leave of five years in the workplace will lose out on waes of $222,000 (Picchi, 2018).
