For many years women have been struggling with. Many tend to believe they have come a long way since a gap of equality between the sexes existed. Since this social conflict has progressed, many people make the assumption that there is no inequality left between male and female. For many, women have the same opportunities as men. Unfortunately women are still treated unequally. The inequality towards women is evident in many aspects of life for example the work force, marriage, politics, and gender roles in society. Women have yet to overcome this obstacle. Society says women can be whatever they desire to be, but in reality we just get pushed down and treated unimportant. Ledbetter found out she was receiving discriminatory pay, so she files a lawsuit against the company. Since she failed to file it within 180 days the court won 5 to 4. She continued to receive discriminatory pay because her case was filed too late. Judge, Justice Ginsburg was so appalled by the courts decision, she decided to dissent from it. She defended women’s rights, In her own words she said “In our view the court does not comprehend, the insidious way in which women can be victims of pay discrimination”. Congress immediately took action, and in less than two years the House and Senate in 2009 passed the Lilly Ledbetter Act. The Ledbetter Act allows employees to freely ask about pay discrimination. This act is just the beginning of women’s equality.
` Feminists see the world as equality for both sexes. I would consider myself a feminist, now that I have a better understanding of what it truly defines. Feminists have great views of the world around us. They tend to be more aware of their surroundings. These are women who want to be heard and understood, Better yet equally treated. No woman wants to live in a world where males feel they have the right to dominate and have more of a privilege to do certain things women can't do just because they say
