Same-sex marriage has been a religious hot potato for years. In case of the United State, same-sex marriage is legally recognized in some jurisdictions within the United States and by the federal government. As of January 2014, seventeen states (California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington), as well as the District of Columbia, have legalized same-sex marriage, although the Illinois law will not become effective until June 1, 14 (Reference: Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Same-sex_marriage).
Above-mentioned, same-sex marriage is permitted in many states, even some churches or religious orders endorsed same-sex-marriage in the name of human or gender equality. The more serious implication is about Evangelism, because same- sex-marriage is standing against the Lord and is implicating next generation in confusion. The churches no longer work and the Christians no more proclaim Evangelism in the name of Jesus Christ.
As a result, same-sex marriage can be performed in a secular civil ceremony or in a religious setting. Various faith communities around the world allowing same-sex couples to marry or conduct same-sex marriage ceremonies; for example: Buddhism in Australia, Church of Sweden, Conservative Judaism, Episcopalians, Humanistic Judaism, Native American religious with a two-spirit tradition, Druids, the

Metropolitan Community Church, Quakers, Reconstructionist Judaism, Reform Judaism, Unitarian Universalists, the United Church of Canada, the United Church of Christ, and Wiccans, as well as various other progressive and modern Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, and Jewish group...

...pose like He created us in His image. He created man and then woman, and let them get married, and then He gave to them their babies as pledges of their love.
Thus, those who insist on same-sex marriage in the name of human or gender quality are standing against the Lord, and through such the rebellion, they have faithfully spoken for the Satan’s deception. They deceive even themselves or duped by the Satan, because they have never known who Jesus Christ is and what He did for our sin.
In conclusion, same-sex marriage contradicts Evangelism; moreover, contradict the good purpose of the creation of the Lord, because same-marriage is not a marriage, but just an abomination. Thus, same-sex marriage comes to offend God (TFP Action, http://www.tfpstudentaction.org/politically-incorrect/homosexuality/10- reasons-why-homosexual-marriage-is-harmful-and-must-be-opposed.html).
If the line is clearly drawn in the sand between church and state it will ultimately be for the betterment of many. Members of the clergy will no longer fear the repercussions of performing marriages for the select homosexual couples who wish to be joined in their church of their choosing. Moody states one catholic priest said: “We can bless a dog, we can bless a boat, but we can’t say a prayer over two people who love each other.” (355) The sacrament of marriage will forever be a topic not everyone can agree upon but as history proves change is inevitability a spoke on a wheel that will constantly be moving forward.
Homosexuality defies the laws of nature, social norms, and has many adverse side effects. Today we live in a society that promotes homosexuality as an acceptable lifestyle. Many homosexuals that live this lifestyle like to justify their behavior by twisting God’s truth. They make claims like “God is a God of love”, “the bible does not condemn homosexuality”, and “I am not hurting anybody, so it is ok.” God has clearly revealed to us in his Word that homosexuality is an abomination. Leviticus 20: 13 says, “If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.” (ESV). Sin is serious and God’s Word tells us that there are grave consequences for such sin. Homosexuality is not only a sin that is committed against oneself, but is also contrary to God’s divine design of marriage and family. God created holy matrimony to be between one man and one woman and not between the same sex. Right from the beginning God says in Genesis 2:24, “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” (ESV). God designed marriage for procreation and tells us to “be fruitful and multiply.” A homosexual couple, on the other hand, is unable to reproduce and have a family. That is only one of the many negative side
Throughout the years marriage has drifted from its original meaning, which is described as, "the formal union of a man and a woman, typically recognized by law, by which they become husband and wife," by Oxford Dictionary. Today, marriage can be formed between people of opposite sex, people of the same sex, a man and multiple women, and many more. Many people disagree with forms of marriage other than heterosexual marriage. This is because they go against religious beliefs, as well as alter the true meaning of marriage. People who claim to be "Christians" who are, or support homosexuality, are directly going against God. Marriage is supposed to be a sacred covenant between a man and a woman, therefore, anything other than heterosexual marriage is naturally, morally and religiously wrong.
However, what many people does not realized it is that by stating that God does not agree with homosexuality, they are segregating homosexuals and treating them differently. For example, there have been several news and statistical data that shows how the LGBT community is sometimes treated unequal in many ways, especially marriage. Marriage is defined as the civil union of two people that love each other. However, gay marriage was not permitted on several states until June of 2015. It was not until June 26, 2015 that the US Supreme Court that stated how the constitution of the United States will guarantee the right of marriage to couple of the same sex. Furthermore, compared to other times a lot more people are supporting the LGBT community,”
...re central to the agenda. The conference underlined the fact that the rights of gays had become one of the most vexed and challenging issues facing contemporary Christianity” (Hunt, 2009). Traditionalists alongside the world’s more prominent religions generally disapprove of homosexuality and often cite religious arguments to support their views. Since 2003, the Episcopal Church and the Evangelical Lutheran Church have opened their doors to gay bishops and clergy, even as most other denominations keep their teaching against homosexual behavior intact. In relation, overall support for same-sex marriage has jumped to 53 percent in 2013. During this time, same-sex marriage became legal in 17 states and the District of Columbia. Also, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act, that restricted federal recognition of legally wed gay couples.
Legal marriage is the right of all Americans regardless of their sexual orientation. Gay marriage is certainly a hot button issue. It invokes an emotional dialogue filled with passion, rage, hate and fear. However, at the base of it all, are two people who are in a committed relationship living normal and productive lives and contributing to society in a positive manner. This issue is being debated in every state of the union, and will eventually go to the Supreme Court.
Homosexuality and Same-sex unions may be acceptable in current society, but for the Christian believer it has caused great conflict. Homosexual marriage is an attractive deception of the original act of marriage intended by God. The unions of homosexuals are an affront to creator and His word. Same-sex unions long for the same rewards that have been conferred to heterosexual couples which have been united in holy matrimony. According to the word of God, the biblical prospective: marriage is the union of man and woman, not man and man or woman and woman- same-Sex unions are considered an abomination.
Stop Twisting the Bible To Make it Fit Same-Sex Marriage. " The American Vision. Gary DeMar, 23 Apr. 2014.
In conclusion I argue that banning same-sex marriage is discriminatory. It is discriminatory because it denies homosexuals the many benefits received by heterosexual couples. The right to marriage in the United States has little to do with the religious and spiritual meaning of marriage. It has a lot to do with social justice, extending a civil right to a minority group. This is why I argue for same-sex marriage. The freedom to marry regardless of gender preference should be allowed.
“It is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married” (Procon.org), said Barack Obama the 44th and current president of the United States. The gay right movement started in 1969, riots, struggles, and problems followed after. In today’s society, it has been showed that people are opening up to gay rights. There has been effort in protecting the gays and discrimination against gays is now considered a hate crime and is illegal. However, gay rights still to this day struggle with state and federal legal circumstances. Same- sex marriage needs to be legal, couples who choose to be of the same-sex should be allowed to celebrate their commitment with each other the way heterosexual couples get to, both publicly and society acceptable.
Yet, some circumstances do not follow what people had been growing up with. As a result collision of ideas always happens. According to Raul Paras, "The basic concept of Christian Marriage is a sacrament between two persons of different sexes who commit themselves to live as husband and wife for whole life, for the purpose of procreation." It cannot be denied that since the world began, marriage is known to be the union of man and woman. But as the years passed by this belief has turned into a sudden change. Same-sex marriage was recognized. Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh" (2 Gen. 24). It was clearly stated that two opposite sex were joined as one. On the other hand, same-sex marriage unites two similar genders. This sudden shift of marriage was flooded by several oppositions. People who believe in the sacrament of marriages see same-sex marriage as an immoral act. "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination" (20 Lev. 13). As bright as the sunlight, the statement proves how morally wrong same-sex marriage is. Thus, same-sex marriage truly contradicts the principle of
Why isn’t gay marriage legal yet? How does gay marriage affect people that aren’t gay? Why does it matter to those people? Why can’t gay people have the same rights as straight people? Gay marriage should be legal worldwide. Gay marriage or same-sex marriage is when a man and man or women and a woman get married. Same-sex marriage impacts society in different types of ways, some people are affected by it because they think it is against the bible, others seem to have no impact or problem with same-sex marriage. However for the gay community it affects them, because in some states they are not allowed to marry the one they are in love with it. Also it impacts them because there are groups of people against same-sex marriage and the gay community is constantly being judged by people opposed to same-sex marriage. Seventeen states have legalized same-sex marriage; Thirty-three states banned same-sex marriage. Same-sex marriage provides a more stable environment for children of gay couples. Legalizing same-sex marriage does not affect or harm heterosexual marriages. Marriage is a union of love, not a union of genders.
Allowing gay marriage also puts churches at risk, because if pastors allow same sex marriage it makes them go against God’s word as well. Homosexuality is a sin and it is unacceptable to force gay marriage on people who do not believe in it. It is also an unnatural act because God created Adam and Eve, not Eve and Eve nor Adam and Steve. Same sex marriage can confuse younger children too. Children should have a male father and female mother in their lives.
In the book American Now, a student from San Francisco State University, Holly Nall has written essay about mixed relationships and she talks about her relationship with her boyfriend. Holly Nall has a relationship with a black man and he is also sixteen years older than her. According to Holly Nall, “If you wouldn’t’ date or marry someone of the same gender, or outside your own race, ethnicity, generation, religion, political party or income bracket, that’s perfectly fine. What we can’t do is expect everyone else to do the same thing” (234). All people are not the same. People have different views, ways of thinking and beliefs because we all have grown up in different societies, cultures, and families. Therefore, people have different views
Many people believe in a traditional marriage between a man and a woman. God created man and woman to be faithful and produce children. Same-sex marriage is contrary to the word of God and the laws of nature; therefore, it is incompatible with the beliefs, sacred texts, and traditions of many religious groups. Many biblical scriptures talk about how immoral same-sex marriage is.
