"Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning made them male and female[...] Therefore, what God has joined let not man separate." (19 Matt. 4-6). For the past years, marriage has been known as one of the sacred ceremonies done in the bible. It was started with the creation of Adam and Eve, who represent the first man and woman. Through the grace of God, they were united as one and the first family was born. From then on, Adam and Eve became an epitome of husband and wife. Marriage ceremonies were solemnly done to unite besotted couples. However, marriage does not just revolve in love. It also indicates a responsibility of building a family. God said "be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth" (1 Gen. 28). This statement clearly …show more content…
Yet, some circumstances do not follow what people had been growing up with. As a result collision of ideas always happens. According to Raul Paras, "The basic concept of Christian Marriage is a sacrament between two persons of different sexes who commit themselves to live as husband and wife for whole life, for the purpose of procreation." It cannot be denied that since the world began, marriage is known to be the union of man and woman. But as the years passed by this belief has turned into a sudden change. Same-sex marriage was recognized. Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh" (2 Gen. 24). It was clearly stated that two opposite sex were joined as one. On the other hand, same-sex marriage unites two similar genders. This sudden shift of marriage was flooded by several oppositions. People who believe in the sacrament of marriages see same-sex marriage as an immoral act. "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination" (20 Lev. 13). As bright as the sunlight, the statement proves how morally wrong same-sex marriage is. Thus, same-sex marriage truly contradicts the principle of
Marriage in Judaism is recognised as a very blessed tradition. This sacred bond is actually called a Kiddushin, which translates to ‘purification’ or ‘commitment’. The dedication of marriage demonstrates that the couple now have a select relationship and they are “one spirit in two bodies”.
God has declared through His loving kindness and His righteousness how He enjoys heterosexual relationships, as Creator of man and woman. God created a woman from Adam’s rib so that Adam would not be alone. Upon completion of God creating woman, God asked Adam to name her; Adam declared she would be called woman as she was created with man’s rib, but her name will be Eve as she is the first woman. Therefore, that pleased God, and we have the first marriage. A marriage where to people man and woman come together. They were creatively designed by God to fit each other. God did not create man to lay with another man, as their bodies are not designed to fit or complement each other. Adam was given instructions from God not to eat from the tree of knowledge and as head of the marriage; it was his responsibility to enforce God’s command. Yet he failed and ate with Eve from the tree. And later that day, as God was walking in the garden in the coolness of the day, He called out to Adam. Adam and Eve were hiding from Him, as they knew they blew it. When God questioned Adam why did he eat from the tree, Adam blamed Eve. God is fair and just and He loves us all. Even when they had sinned against God, God loved them and clothed them with animal skins. In order for Him to provide the animal skins, He had to kill the animal.

Significance of marriage – Marriage is between a man and a woman. Homosexuality is not considered a good thing in this Faith.
First off lets talk about the definition of marriage. Marriage can be defined many ways but they way we are “suppose” to follow doesn’t quiet fit what it is intended to do. What we are expected to believe about marriage is how it is between only a man and a woman. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary marriage is an intimate or close union between same sex or opposite sex couples (“marriage”). This means it’s a union
From the book of Proverbs, we are also told that God designed marriage and sex not only as a means for bringing children into this world, but also as God's appointed means for a man to find pleasure in his wife. In the New Testament, we are told that Jesus attended a wedding in Cana of Galilee and miraculously provided wine when their supplies were exhausted. The Apostle Paul also had a great deal to say about the covenant that God ordained between man and woman. Paul assumed that elders and deacons would be married and have bare children. Paul also encouraged younger widows to marry and he claimed the right as an apostle to lead a wife.
Fairfax, “Marriage is one of the core values of society. Almost 20 years ago, the well renowned black scholar and psychologist Dr. Na’im Akbar (1991) penned the following: ‘‘marriage is such an important lesson in manhood (womanhood) development. It is no wonder that every society requires some form of it’’ (p. 13).” This coincides with the values that I stated above that were considered important in my culture. Marriage is important to more that my culture obviously but in my culture there is always this well-known quote from the bible: “He who finds a wife, finds a good thing (NKJV Proverbs 18:22). That is basically religion and love in the same
It is said that when a man and a woman come together as one, it appeases God. In this union, He blesses the couple with children to nurture, protect, and teach them His word. Families are of extreme importance in both the physical and theological sense. In the book of Genesis, the Lord said for his people to be fruitful and multiply while ruling over the lands and seas. His plan was for the people to marry and give birth, which is a vital building block of the human race.
What is a marriage? According to Webster’s Dictionary, a marriage is “the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law.” It can also be stated for those of the same sex, but for the purpose of this paper it will be examined from a heterosexual standpoint. In a heterosexual marriage, you will find conflict between the husband and the wife and this is where religion is supposed to help out.
In conclusion, the metaphor of marriage used throughout the Bible to illustrate the relationship between God and His people and the institution of human marriage. Marriage is a covenant and you must not break it because it is like breaking God’s covenant. One should love each other like Christ love us. God joined the two people together as one flesh therefore divorce is unacceptable.
God intended for us to be united with the opposite sex since the beginning of time. The book of Genesis tells us: "God created man in his image, He created him in the image of God, man and woman, He created them. God saw what he had done and said, "This is good, it is not good that man should be alone."(McLachlan 5). Marriage is inherently good and pleasing to God. It was part of God's original plan for mankind. It is also shown that Jesus held marriage in great esteem, for it was at a wedding where he performed his first public miracle. Furthermore, it is Jesus who raises Marriage to a Sacrament of the New Law. Our Lord is also the one who told us that divorce was wrong. He says, "What God has joined together, no human being must separate."(Matrimony 1).
What is Marriage? Marriage is when people are being united together as husband and wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by the law. Marriage hasn’t always been how it is now, where women have a say in family problems, and where woman have the right to choose whom they want to marry. Before during the ancient times, women had to marry those in their families, and could not marry those that were Marriage use to be all about doing what you needed to support your family, which meant you married someone who was able to give you what you needed. Marriage wasn’t because you loved someone, but it was always because people wanted to preserve power. Now in the marriage, people marry, because they love each other, and because they want to make an effort to spend the rest of their lives together.
The fourth and final step of the marriage process is to become one flesh. According to free dictionary.com, become means “to grow or come to be,” or “to be appropriate or suitable; to develop or grow into; to be appropriate; befit.” Becoming is a process that takes time and work. Tim Keller states that in order to call a union marriage, “sex is understood as both a sign of that personal, legal union and a means to accomplish it. The Bible says don’t unite with someone physically unless you are also willing to unite with the person emotionally, personally, socially, economically, and legally. Don’t become physically naked and vulnerable to the another person without becoming vulnerable in every other way, because you have given up your freedom and bound yourself in marriage.” (Keller pg. 215) God’s design is supposed to occur on the wedding night as they complete their marriage vows by having sex. It is clear that “they will become one flesh” is a indirect term for sex but it is also more than sex. The become one is to be on the same page, mind and accord. It is correct to compare it to one brain, making one decision and taking one action. Together one path, and they share one authority, one heart, one body, one mind, one thought, one church, and one God. The spouses become one flesh in every sense of the word. All these areas of oneness are important because division in any of them will cause them to stumble.
Many people believe in a traditional marriage between a man and a woman. God created man and woman to be faithful and produce children. Same-sex marriage is contrary to the word of God and the laws of nature; therefore, it is incompatible with the beliefs, sacred texts, and traditions of many religious groups. Many biblical scriptures talk about how immoral same-sex marriage is.
