Recommended: The theory of myth
Once upon a time, the country was covered by endless oceans. In these ruled the gods and sea people who lived peacefully alongside each other and watched over the humans. The reign of the sea had very fortunate advantages for the humans such as peace and protection through all beings of the ocean. Deep down in the ocean lived Megara the goddess of the sea and guardian of the mermaids. Megara promises her people they will be happy for the rest of their life, but she was wrong. Everything was about to change. The humans were envious of the power the sea people had over them. They desired their independence and freedom. The humans soon agreed something needed to change. Something had to be done. They created a potion to “destroy” the mermaids.
It all began with good intentions. People thinking that they can control these animals and not expect any negative impacts. It was all due to wanting to explore and entertain with the animals. However, not all animals are meant to be taken from the wild to be show animals. After many years of unfair ways, SeaWorld is doing the right thing by closing down the whale exhibit even if it isn’t by choice because it is unhealthy for both the humans and animals involved.
I believe that killer whales held hostage, should be retired and allowed to live freely because of the unnatural punishment and torture that Seaworld is putting them through. There has been 151 cases of aggression between Orcas and their trainers. Also 100% of male Orcas in captivity have a collapsed fin compared to the 0.01% in the wild. In fact, every single mother within captivity has had its calf taken away around age 2. This isn't going to stop without your help. So, here are some more facts to convince you to SAS ( strike against Seaworld. )
711 million people a year sponsor the act of kidnapping, torture, and starvation around the world. If you’ve ever been to a zoo, aquarium or a Seaworld park, you’re one of those 711 million people. Lately, controversy has struck the world over the treatment of animals in those types of facilities. There are many good rehabilitation centers in zoos worldwide that help injured, endangered or ill animals, which is why a lot of people do support them. However, there is a darker side to these parks and facilities. These animals cruel pasts and hidden lives will never be heard unless we help. Help them escape their tortured lives, and see their families they were ripped from when they were only babies. Be the voice of the voiceless and shut down
The first genetically modified animal has been given the green light to reach dinner plates.
“The voice of the sea is seductive; never ceasing, whispering, clamoring, murmuring, inviting the soul to wander for a spell in abysses of solitude; to lose itself in mazes of inward contemplation.
"Hey mom!" "Yes, my dear?" "It's starting to look like that Orca wants to drown its trainer." "Oh no sweetie. It's just your imagination." But what if it's not?
Orca whales do not like to be taken from their family, held captive for many decades and put with other whales that they do not know. No other living organism on this planet would like to be put through the same thing. Orca whales are highly social animals, they are very intelligent, and are very emotional. If they are kept away from other whales, fed intermittently and received little attention from staff makes them get very emotional and can lead to death of people and the whales. Orca whales should not be held captive; they are beautiful creatures that are not great for people’s amusement and if they are treated poorly, they will act poorly.
Australian beaches are some of the best in the world and WA beaches are some of the best in Australia. But this may soon no longer be a view held by everyone if the WA government continues to support and allow the shark culling off Perth's major beaches. Hi I'm Maya Koentgen, a marine biologist, ecologist and fellow beach user, and I'm here to tell you why shark culling needs to stop. At the moment hundreds of innocent sharks are being caught and killed and why? Because they are simply swimming in their own homes that us humans have invaded.
Manatees are loved by many Floridians. Manatees are known as one of the state’s natural wonders. They were once marked as one of the endangered mammals in Florida. The federal government considers a species endangered when it is at risk of extinction. Therefore, the federal government is downlisting manatees from “endangered” to “threatened.” The manatees are now downgraded from endangered to just threatened, the level of protection for the manatees are also reducing. Since the federal government has spoken out that manatees are no longer endangered, does it decrease the risk of manatees being extinct?
The green sea turtles have been taken out of the Atlantic Ocean for several years, so now they are an endangered species. Today, the green sea turtles population is growing and in the Florida Refuge they counted up to over 12,000 turtle nests. It is shocking to see how much the refuges care about the green sea turtles. They have been looking out for the turtles for 35 years. It was interesting to find out that these green sea turtles live for a really long time. It takes the turtles 25 years just to mature. This article caught my eye because I love science and animals. Knowing that people are taking care of what used to be endangered animals really means a lot to me. I hate seeing animals hurt or struggling to survive. Because of the refuges
The sea is at fault for Enda’s progression to her self-discovery as she selfishly submits to her consciousness and becomes independent. Enda’s practical uses of the sea, demonstrates her nonconformity and therefore foreshadows her suicide at the end of the novel. As she swims, the water imagery associated with the sea symbolizes empowerment, allowing Enda as she gains independence, to not only gain control of herself, but defy against society’s expectations.

Mermaid Rights Everyone has their own perceptions on things of any nature whether they be bad or good. However, when it comes to an individual, treating someone differently just by the way they look is just inhumane and quite cruel. In one case, although women’s rights have greatly grown since the 19th century, women still endure the unequal rights from some people and the dominance men have in the nation. This concept can be related to Jeannine Gailey’s poem, “Here There Be Monsters” by examining how the ‘fantasized mermaid’ describes how a man treats her just because she looks different and also hints at the fact that the ‘Here’ may be the surface world and how cruel it is seen by another perspective.
“Overfishing occurs when more fish are caught than the population can replace through natural reproduction”. CITATION
There are many legends about mermaids, but does anyone believe in any of them? Most people are skeptical, but there are some people who truly believe that they exist. Mermaids are said to have the upper body of a human and the lower body of a fish. They are also said to have been circulating the oceans as far back as 5,000 B.C. ("Unknown Explorers - Mermaids") Mermaids probably do not exist because there is not enough evidence that they do exist.
