Some Americans have the perception that immigration promotes the likelihood of terrorist attacks and increase violent crimes. Others believe that immigration causes crime to decrease, and creates a more dynamic society. The Atlantic states that in terms of both crime and terrorism, immigrants are not what current President, Trump claims them to be, criminals and rapist while assuming that there may be some “good” ones (Krishnadev, C. 2016). Graham Ousey and Charis Kubrin conclude that after a century of research, immigrants almost always show lower crime rates than the natives in the host country (Ousey, G., & C. Kubrin. 2009). There are several arguments for both the risk and reward of immigration. The most common perception is that immigration causes more violent crime while empirical evidence by some measure immigration contributed to the crime drop of the 1990s. Perceived risks that tend to be associated with immigration include; Demographic Transition and Population Instability, Labor Market Structure and Economic Deprivation, and Illegal Drug Markets. These risks, or positing a positive immigration in the crime relationship, add to the perception that immigration causes higher crime rates. There are several arguments that support Ousey and Kubrin’s analysis and conclusions. First, most immigrants are not criminally motivated. Second, the potentially strong formal social control that is demonstrated in this area. Third, immigrant neighborhoods experience fewer crimes as they are more socially organized than they were previously (Ross, J. L.
