We live in a nation where buying firearms is a common interest shared by many. About “forty percent of firearms are sold without background checks” that can make many people feel uneasy knowing that we have had a few incidents of gun outrages in the past few years (CNN Wire). Our nations second amendment states that everyone has the right to keep and bare arms. This amendment allows all individuals to own guns in their position for reasons such as self-defense. It is setup to track individual’s purchase of guns and require more background checks before purchasing a gun. Some believe that this new law will conflict with individuals freedom and is giving the public the ability to see others personal records. One may believe that these actions that the government is taking are acceptable and make sense when it comes to ones safety. I agree with restricting a person with a criminal record to purchase a gun can be a way to prevent any crime to occur, but is looked at as limiting their rights as citizens. The amendments were set up to be rights that everyone in the nation would have to abide by. This law has become a limited reagent to ones freedom and does not give equal opportunity among everyone in our society. It has both positive and negative contributions to it which need to be reexamined by the government. Having a gun in your possession is a huge responsibility and is used to protect individuals on a regular basis but it is very important to only use it for the correct reasons. This law needs to make few changes to it before it becomes a law that will be addressed nation wide and expected to be abided by as a whole nation, and not only New
