Extreme Parenting
When Amy Chua, a professor at Yale, wrote her personal memoir in 2011 called Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, controversy arose regarding the topic of an extreme parenting type called a “Tiger Mom” (Tiger Mom). When The Wall Street Journal posted an excerpt from Chua’s book on their website, it received over 7,000 comments both positive and negative including death threats (Extreme Parenting). In her book, Chua describes is forcing her 7-year old daughter to stay up all night without bathroom or drink breaks until she was able to play a certain piano piece (Extreme Parenting). Her daughter rebels, drops violin, and takes up tennis (Luscombe). Extreme parents exert great pressure on their child to meet expectations, and if they are not met, the child may be punished (Hatter). The MacMillan Dictionary defines a tiger mom as “a very strict mother who makes her children work particularly hard and restricts their free time so they continually achieve the highest grades,” (Tiger Mother).
Extreme parenting is absurd and irrational; bringing up a child this way is harmful, unrealistic, and unfair to the child and his or her future. Research shows extreme parenting has negative effects on children’s mental health and limits their personal development.

Telling a child they have to be number one in every subject, leads them to believe anything less is unsatisfactory. These children who are disciplined too harshly will become insecure adolescents and anxious adults (Extreme Parenting). Kwan Lee is the father of a student who attends OCT. He says, “The children of ‘Tiger Moms’ are too programmed. They get into a good college, but they don’t know what to do next,” (Yi). The Rogerian model is a diplomatic mode of argumentation that can be used in writing to present a problem and offer a solution to a specific issue. When reading an essay that follows the Rogerian outline, it is easier to understand what the writer is trying to persuade and argue, because it states the problem and shows why the issue needs to be addressed. Then it proposes the opponent's position and validates grants whatever validity the writer finds in the opposition's perspective. For example, the writer may acknowledge certain situations in which the opponent's position can be acceptable. The Rogerian outline could be helpful and used to enhance an argument. Many individuals are taking the process of process of parental licensing into their own hands, despite their contributions being made up in mind only, however, it is thought that counts. One respective person believes that a restriction on having children should begin at the earliest stage of one’s life: birth. Intrusive parenting is a new scenario that has just recently caught the attention of the public eye. Barbara Howard, author of “Landing Helicopter Parents,” refers to these specific types of parents as “helicopter parents” because they are in constant fear that something bad might happen to their child and are willing to do anything to raise a successful young adult (8). Parenting styles refer to a set of different manners in which parents raise their children. There are four parenting styles including authoritarian, authoritative, permissive, and uninvolved parenting. The authoritarian parenting style is based on the implementation of rules, and on the idea that all rules should be followed without exceptions. Similarly, authoritative parenting style implements rules, but the child feelings are taken in consideration and reasonable exceptions to the rule are allowed. On the other hand, in permissive parenting style, there is implementation of rules, but they are rarely encouraged to be followed. There are two central elements regarding parenting style: parental responsiveness and parental demand (Maccoby & Martin, 1983). From these building blocks, Baumrind identified three prototypes: authoritative, authoritarian, and permissive. There are many ways that a child can grow up healthy, they could eat right the parents have a genetic code that allows the child to be a healthy baby. But these are some factors that shows that a child is healthy. But what needs to know is there are others ways that a child can be healthy and unhealthy. When discussing on how a child is healthy we are looking at the family system and how that affects the way the baby learns and acts in a society. Having a child that is brought up with a healthy family system can result in your child having a healthy development.

Nowadays, parents only want what is best for their children and their parenting styles plays a crucial role in the development of children which will in the long run, not only effect the child’s childhood years, but later prolong into their adult life as well.
According to the article “Rather than confirming the home as a haven from the heartless world, this study has revealed the heartlessness of the system in which mothers and nannies are caught,” the researcher wants people to know, instead of that the child becoming a well respectful adult in society, there is a possibility that the child will experience some trouble in becoming that person in his/her later life, because of the constant conflict between mothers and nannies; puppeteer is the main reason for these conflict.

This is because helicopter parenting can come in different styles depending on many different facets. For example, some cultures put greater stress on academics, while others focus more on athletics. For the terms of this study, we will look to identify students of academic related helicopter parenting. General definitions describe helicopter parenting as people who are overly involved in a child’s life, and/or decision making of the child (Hightower, 2014). More elaborate definitions expand on this and touch on specific facets of helicopter parenting. Helicopter parenting is someone who is overly involved in their child’s academic experiences (Hiltz, 2015). Helicopter parents are vocal in their child’s education, and tend to volunteer at many school functions. Helicopter parenting of college or professional age individuals occurs, when the parental figure is in charge of managing their day to day activities (Manos, 2009). This includes aspects of their lives, such as class scheduling, and job searches. One of the most critical aspects of raising a child is the way they are disciplined. Disciplining a child starts early in their life and how it is done sets an example for them of how to respond to undesirable behaviors. Everyone’s parenting style differs, but the majority fall into four major categories: Authoritarian, Authoritative, Neglectful, and Indulgent. Electing a parenting style is hard and in most cases, the chosen or natural parenting style is based on the effects of the parenting style the parent experienced when they were young.
Child abuse refers to lack of care or any type of emotional, physical or sexual mistreatment that results in emotional damage or physical injury to a child or a youth. In most countries, children are considered to be anyone below 18 years of age. Child abuse can occur directly by harming a child or indirectly by failing to prevent the child from any form of harm or injury. Child abuse can occur either in the family set up, in the community set up or in an institution such as a school. Also, children can be abused by adults or by other children or by people who know them or people who are complete strangers to them.
As parents one only want the best for their children. Therefore, one sometimes tend to come off as strict parents. Parents that only want the best for their children try to teach them respect and mold them into bright, intelligent individuals. Nowadays, the way you appear and carry yourself if very important. Parents who do not let their child participate in some events only does this because one is looking out for their children. Parents are sometimes strict because, one does not want their child to stray away, one does not want their child to make the same mistakes as one did when one was younger, and to teach discipline.
Single Parent Struggle For many years, children growing up in a single parent family have been viewed as different. Being raised by only one parent seems impossible to many yet over the decades it has become more prevalent. In today’s society many children have grown up to become emotionally stable and successful whether they had one or two parents to show them the rocky path that life bestows upon all human beings. The problem lies in the difference of children raised by single parents versus children raised by both a mother and a father.
