The 2017 presidential election was won by Donald J. Trump, whose main campaign focus was centered on immigration with the promise of mass deportation of illegal immigrants. Since his inauguration, Donald Trump, has kept true to his promise and there has been an increase in the number of deportations, as well as heightened border protection to reduce the amount of illegals that enter the country. According to PewResearch Center, “ There were 11.1 million unauthorized immigrants in the U.S in 2014”, since then the number of immigrants has remained relatively the same (Krogstad). The dilemma that arises with deportation is how individuals will be affected by the implementation of deportation, since it will cause families to split, leave jobs unattained and cause a decrease in employment. …show more content…

This has incited a fear in many illegal immigrants throughout the country, since none of them are now safe from deportation . This fear comes from the plausibility of leaving their families behind if they were to be arrested and ultimately deported back to their country of origin. In an article published by The Huffington Post, titled Deportation separated thousands of U.S born children from parents, they mention that an “estimated 4.5 million U.S Citizen children have at least one undocumented parent”, thus leading them to stay with other family members or enter foster care if both their parents were deported (Foley). It does not seem as though the deportations will cease to be implemented so this reality is what many immigrants will soon face, their families will be torn
