We all know that Planned Parenthood is a charitable association that researches into and gives guidance on contraception, family arranging, and regenerative issues. However, society and especially the American people need to realize what Planned Parenthood does to the unborn children. Some think funding Planned Parenthood is a good idea without looking at the affects that is will cause and then there are others that see likewise and want to defund Planned Parenthood. When arguing the point on defunding Planned Parenthood the liberals and conservatives has two different perspective and argumentative points which both goes a long way trying to get society to understand both their views. However, both sides feel that their perspective of defunding …show more content…
(Fram, August 2015)”. Having said that their perspective on defunding Planned Parenthood is to cut the tax dollars by all means of supporting this organization. Their view is that a human life begins at conception and that abortion is killing another human being so they support the government to prohibit partial birth abortions. “Partial-Birth Abortion is a procedure in which the abortionist pulls a living baby feet-first out of the womb and into the birth canal (vagina), except for the head, which the abortionist purposely keeps lodged just inside the cervix (the opening to the womb).” (National Rights to Live, nrlc.org) Noting that one thing is clear and that Planned Parenthood top priority is not the wellbeing of women. Behind this organization there are facts that they don’t want Americans to know which shows a whole different view of Planned Parenthood, like how there is a high abortion rate which the tax dollars generate and goes to the clinics revenue and also that this is a criminal organization. Conservatives argue that selling unborn baby parts for profit is a crime and can result is imprisonment. But the conservatives see that there should be a stop to funding Planned Parenthood, so now Congress has the chance to end government financing for Planned Parenthood. A voice of …show more content…
They believe that fighting this war to defund Planned Parenthood is worth it and in any case, one that speaks to a basic point for the Republican Party. A strong Republican stated “If Republicans can’t fight against the sale of dead baby parts, then we probably can’t fight for anything.”(Akins, September 2015) That is a strong statement because if they don’t fight for it what is the point in having them apart of the government system that is for that people who supposed to be run by the people. They view is really what’s right for the people and what is seen to be savage. The Republicans focuses to the recordings that have uncovered Planned Parenthood practices and talk plainly about their objective. However, there are majority of the conservatives that would not vote in favor of any spending bill that keeps subsidizing for Planned Parenthood like Cruz, Mulvaney, and
antiabortionists almost demanded a government shut down unless Republican leaders convinced President Obama to cut funds for Planned Parenthood.
Planned Parenthood is non-profit and has been around for over fifty years. Planned Parenthood offers many services to women, other than abortions. A few of the services offered to women are free health care, such as anemia testing, cholesterol screening, physical exams for employees and for sports, flu vaccinations, aid in quitting smoking, high blood pressure testing, tetanus vaccinations, and thyroid screening. The many other services they offer include free birth control, emergency contraception, testing for STD’s (Sexually Transmitted Diseases), breast cancer screenings, cervical cancer screenings, pelvic exams, free information to women, and a number of other things.(“General Health”) Under the Hyde amendment that passed in 1976, there has been a legislative provision prohibiting the use of certain federal funds to pay for abortion unless the pregnancy arises from incest, rape, or to save the life of the mother. During the fiscal year that ended in June 2014, Planned Parenthood affiliates around the country received $528.4 million in government funds. It has been estimated that 42 percent of their services went towards STD/STI testing and treatment, 34 percent went to contraceptive, 11 percent to women's health services, 9 percent to cancer screenings and prevention, 3 percent to abortion, and 1 percent to other services. Citizens all over the globe argue if abortion should be considered legal, even though all states in America already allow it, hence the Roe V. Wade case. Others think it should be withheld and be considered illegal. Although the case was held a long time ago, people still bring it up today. Arguably, I believe that abortion should be illegal in most, if not all, states of the world.
Abortion is very cruel to the baby and even harms the mother. It is murder! There are many different procedures for abortions, all gruesome and pain inflicting on the baby. Suction Aspiration (vacuum curettage) makes up for 98% of first trimester abortions. The cervix is first dilated. Then a suction tube with a sharp cutting edge is inserted which rips the baby to pieces. It then sucks out all the remains.
President- elect, Donald Trump, and Vice President- elect, Mike Pence, have stated their views on Planned Parenthood and how it should be defunded; especially Vice President elect, Mike Pence, who has a history of trying to defund Planned Parenthood. In 2007, Mike Pence introduced a bill to defund Planned Parenthood, and kept pushing for it until it passed in 2011. "If Planned Parenthood wants to be involved in providing counseling services and HIV testing, they ought not be in the business of providing abortions," Pence told Sarah Kliff in 2011. "As long as they aspire to do that, I’ll be after them." So after this troubling statements and bills, I decided to set the record straight. Planned Parenthood is a nonprofit reproductive health care organization. It’s services provide STD testing, pregnancy prevention, contraception, counseling, cancer and HIV tests, and abortions. Planned Parenthood is a well rounded health care organization for men and women. They use their resources to help you not the other way around. Planned Parenthood is a program designed to help all human beings. Planned Parenthood shouldn’t be defunded; instead it should be keep being available to all human beings visiting or living in the
Abortion is a one of the most controversial issues in this country, and those who aren’t in favor, or pro-life, think that is morally wrong, and because of that reason they believe that the government should no longer fund Planned Parenthood. Those who oppose Planned Parenthood argue that their tax dollars are paying for these abortions by the organization by the government funding them and they claim that isn’t right. Another reason would be that abortion is the main service they profit from and focus on, and because of that they should be defunded. Others argue that even though funding does not directly go to abortion services provided by Planned Parenthood, that it frees up money from other services to be directed to abortions (Rovner). There has been progress for these groups, for they have lobbied state and national government, which has, lead some legislators to propose legislation that reduces or expelling funding in certain states. Amongst these states that have been affected are Tennessee, Indiana, Wisconsin, New Jersey, Texas, Kansas, and North Carolina (Keen). The state most affected was Texas, as Planned Parenthood was defunded completely, and 47 billion dollars were cut the organization (Keyes). Many groups also have pulled funding from Planned Parenthood, as a result of the controversy with the controversy of their abortion services. Many seem to believe that
Due to the progressive nature of my argument, I will divide my argument into three part. I will use the first part to provide a background of Planned Parenthood and the second part to analyze why Republican’s criticism on Planned Parenthood is inaccurate and should be doubted. I will use scientific evidence to prove that both to “Post Birth Abortion” and “Illegal Sale of Tissue” claims are wrong. For the third part, I will discuss some vital implications derived from Planned Parenthood debate, and how a political controversy like that teach us how a person should
As defined by the Merriam- Webster dictionary, abortion is “the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus as a spontaneous expulsion of a human fetus during the first 12 weeks of gestation- miscarriage, the induced expulsion of a human fetus, or the expulsion of a fetus by domestic animal often due to the infection at any time before completion of pregnancy” (“Abortion”).
On the side of those who not only advocate the bill but created it there is a very complicated idealism rooted in religion, state rights, and morality. As chairwoman Jane Nelson has said herself, “We [state government] have every right to exclude abortion providers and their affiliates from this program” (Aaronson, 2013). This view comes from a stand mixed with the role different parts of government play and the moral view of what abortion truly is; a simple medical procedure or an act of murder. Despite their goals to remove abortion and abortion providers from the medical providers of Texas, they do feel that they also “have a responsibility to ensure that [the women of Texas] have alternatives in their community” (Aaronson, 2013) and claim this is where the focus of their legal battles will be heading towards. For the argument of women’s health, many of those for the new bill believe that it will improve health care for women across the state, as they believe “the ideal world is one without abortion,” (Wissert, 2013) and I think most agree. Those for the bill conclude that this is the way to create a saf...
Abortion has been the topic of controversy for many decades. Many people believe that when a woman terminates a pregnancy, she is committing murder and others argue that a woman has the right to choose life or abortion. There are different procedures to choose when having an abortion, depending on the gestational age and the woman 's health a pill form abortion may be used up to 9 weeks gestation (mifepristone and misoprostol), but for women who are over 12-weeks gestation (late-term abortion), surgical abortion is used (Berer 25). In 1973, the supreme court ruled that abortion was to be legalized, Roe vs. Wade. Women were given the legal right to choose to terminate their pregnancies and make the correct arrangements for their decisions. Different states have different restrictions to accessing abortion procedures, making the woman 's choice to terminate pregnancy less accessible. Restricting a woman 's access to appropriate abortion clinics limits her right to choose.
procedure to end pregnancy and take away the life of an unborn baby. An abortion can be done two different ways using medicine or surgically removed by removing the embryo of the fetus and placenta from the uterus(“Abortion”).Both
As a non-profit healthcare service, Planned Parenthood relies on the government for the majority of its funding. Government health service grants and reimbursements account for 43% of Planned Parenthood’s annual revenue (Annual 32). Without this government support, Planned Parenthood would not be able to provide the support it does. Even though some complain that Planned Parenthood is using government funds, it does have a good purpose. The non-profit uses government funds to provide reproductive services to low-income families. According to “By the Numbers”, 79% of Planned Parenthood’s patients have incomes at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty level. Over 1 million of America’s low income families rely on Planned Parenthood for vital services (Annual 3). They have provided these services for years, and continue to improve the lives of their
Planned Parenthood has been supported by the government, taking taxpayer dollars and allowing women to abort or kill their babies that have already started to develop. Why is it considered souble homicide if a women who is pregnant is killed, and the baby does not survie, but not considered murder when a women kills the child inside of her. The whole point of planned parenthood is to provide an option for women to have an abortion. Donald Trump says “defund planned parenthood” (“Issues”). The government is using taxpayer dollars from many hardworking people. There are other ways for women to avoid being pregnant and having kids, or having kids, and putting them up for adoption. He believes that it is not the job of the government to be involved in killing unborn
Abortion Taking out the trash, or taking a human life? That is what most the argument is with abortion, some believe that abortion is okay because the fetus is not yet a person, and that the fetus will be nothing but trouble. On the other side people believe that even all the way down to the zygote (when sperm meets the egg and earliest stage of pregnancy) there is a human growing in you. A growing boy or girl, with their own little fingers, and toes, their own cute as can be toothless smile, and their functioning organs. To them one day that zygote will turn into someone great, a person just like you and I that needs love just as you and I, a person that deserves to not get taken from our world before it even has a chance to take its first breath.
Abortion has been one of the most talked about topics in society just about anywhere from television, magazines, whether or not it should be the right or wrong thing to do. Abortion is a very sensitive issue to discuss, because of its nature. Many people have said that abortion is a very bad thing to do and it should not even be choice whether or not to abort a living fetus. People think that abortion is committing murder as it is killing the human fetus. However, others feel that a woman should have a voice and have the right to choose to keep the child or not and that it is not murder until the baby is born. Majority of individuals who believe that abortion is bad say that the fetus is human who is partly being formed and to have an abortion is considered to be murder. For the people who think an abortion is ok, say that it’s not considered murder unless the child is born. I believe that abortion should be seen in which the stage the fetus is in. if the fetus is in an early stage of pregnancy it is not considered murder, but if the fetus has already began to develop into a larger fetus then it is indeed considered to be murder. There are times when abortion can be accepted, if the mother is having complications due to pregnancy. For example if the mother is enduring complications in her pregnancy that can harm her, because of the child in that case it is ok to perform an abortion to help save the mother’s life. It is also very important to understand this type of situation. The mother has the right to have an abortion and it is her decision because a mother knows best about her health conditions.
